Thank you

Good morning Folks ~ I want to say a heartfelt thank you for your support at this time, and for your kind comments about my needlework. I love doing it and would love to make an income from home doing this.

My faith goes up and down, I am human.  In the dark of the night is when anxiety creeps in trying to rob my positive thoughts of God’s caring tenderness. I pray and even sing (in my head) and eventually fall back to sleep.

This morning I read more of your comments which uplifted my spirits once again and then I read a great blog post by Donna at Funky Junk Interiors. Her blog is full of love, life, inspiration and encouragement.  I love her style, and the way she loves her son and how they are a team living their life. Her post this morning was just another affirmation that things can and do work out.

Do check out her blog, you won’t be disappointed and you will get some wonderful decorating ideas while you are there too.  She’s one funky lady and I love her.

Thank you Donna.

Today’s blooms

Good evening Friends ~ Thank you for your encouragement.  I woke up feeling positive this morning.  Took some pictures, washed and hung out a load of laundry, went to the library, (free reading material), made a loaf of garlic/herb bread in the bread machine this afternoon, and made a large pan of a sort of paella for supper tonight. Which was yummy and we have plenty to enjoy for a few more meals.

We had a little rain again this afternoon and it is partly cloudy and sunny with a bit of breeze right now.

I worked some on my next embroidery piece.  Drew in the flower stems and even started embroidering after I took the picture. Hurray. The flowers will be: wand flowers, wild garlic, bugle lily, Guernsey lily and Rose grass.  These flowers are all from the book ‘Embroidery from the Garden’ by Diana Lampe.  I got two of her books for Christmas and they are such an inspiration. The other book is, ‘Embroidery for all Seasons’.

Here are the pictures taken this morning.

Here we have a fallen Frangipani bloom, resting on rosemary nestled in ferns and various assorted growing things, like Virginia creeper. Smile

La Marne ~ another sweet little rose.  I need to take a cutting or two of her to root so I can add her around the property.

I’m not sure which rose this is.  Either Bon Silene or Old Blush.

I need to get up to wash dishes, have two baskets of clean laundry to fold and put away also.  Maybe I’ll get to it all tonight.

I got an interesting book at the library this morning.  The Garden of Reading ~ An Anthology of Twentieth-Century Short Fiction About Gardens and Gardeners, edited by Michele Slung.

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow, whatever you do, wherever you are. I will close with the following.

Believe

Here it is another sweltering day. Right now we are having a bit of a thunderstorm. I’d love to have more rain, but it’s been mostly flashes and noise. (It started raining more as I was working on this post, and I am thankful.) We haven’t had a good rain in about 4 days now, after getting rain almost every day for a couple of weeks. Earlier today it was 92 and felt like it was 105. I did some work and hung out a load of laundry this morning, and after awhile I told DH I was heading indoors as I couldn’t stand being outside any longer. It is so draining and starts making you feel ill. The humidity is so heavy and you start feeling dragged out.

Now, for the reason of the title. I will be losing my job this year after 13 years, due to the economy. I don’t know how much longer I will be working, and the shop will be closed the month of August as well. So, in my angst I must believe, that all things will work out. My hope is that as one door closes another is opening. For now I will wait and hope in God to give me peace of mind.

*Angst is an English, German, Danish, Norwegian and Dutch word for fear or anxiety (Anguish is its Latinate equivalent, and anxious, anxiety are of similar origin). It is used in English to describe an intense feeling of apprehension, anxiety or inner turmoil.*

After a nap, after the news from my boss, (I knew it was coming, I just didn’t expect it so quickly), I felt like starting on the next needlework piece. So, I got out a bit of material and drew out the beginning design and the word believe.

I don’t know yet what color scheme or anything, but it’s a start.

I then decided to take some pictures of filet crochet pieces that I’ve done and are for sale. I just don’t have them listed yet.

I learned to crochet when I was 15. My mother had just remarried and my step-grannie lived almost behind us. I would visit her and she taught me how to crochet and I’ve been ‘hooked’ ever since.

I want to thank all of you for your kind comments. They do much to boost and encourage spirits. It’s like visiting over the back fence, visiting each other’s blogs, leaving comments, emailing each other in some cases.

I do not know what tomorrow or next week may bring, but I do know who holds all of my tomorrows. He is God, the great Creator of this wonderful universe we live in.

Be thankful, be well, be at peace.

More from Plum Cottage

This morning we went for a little walk (about 6 blocks away) to see if the yard sale that DH had stopped at yesterday was happening today. It wasn’t. It was already warm and humid, just a few minutes after 7, but it was a nice little walk anyway. DH found 3 pennies.

I didn’t see any gardens. We did see a nice brick home set a way back off the road with a nice piece of property with trees that we thought would be a nice place to live and garden.  But, I’m sure it cost a bundle and we are not in the market to move down the road and get into debt. We got back home and I said to DH as we came up to our little gate off the driveway, Oooohhh, look at this little place, I

wouldn’t mind living here. Smile I really appreciated our humble little place after that walk, and am very thankful for it.
