Today’s post, a book review, ‘The Women of Easter’.

Good morning Friends ~ Here we are into the month where love is celebrated, February.  I hope you are enjoying it so far. I’ve read that there are 6 more weeks of winter to be had, and then ‘spring’.

More on living life here at Plum Cottage to come later. This morning I’ll be working outside again, enjoying the beautiful weather we are having.

Today I have a book review.

‘The Women of Easter’ by Liz Curtis Higgs

"Encounter the Savior with Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene".

As winter wanes, and February begins, hope is in our hearts as spring will soon be here. With spring, comes the celebration of Easter. For believers in Jesus, it is a time to celebrate His life, His death and His resurrection. It is a time of renewal, rebirth.

As God Himself, come in the flesh, Jesus gave his physical life willingly so that we may live life, fully now, and have eternal life as well,  and this, because of His great love for us.

In this book, we read about three different women, all named Mary, all loved Jesus. They all knew He was their promised Savior and Messiah. They each had a personal relationship with Jesus. They saw and heard about His miracles, they witnessed His death, and then were with Him after He resurrected from physical death into life.

From the book:

"What we must cling to is the Lord's immeasurable and unconditonal love. He knows our needs, and He meets them. He sees our hurts and He heals them. He understand our fears and He overcomes them."

"Wherever He leads, follow Jesus. Whatever pain you are enduring, keep your eyes on Jesus. Even when hope seems gone, stay close to Jesus."

In this book you will read how each of these women interacted with Jesus. Your heart will be encouraged to draw closer to Jesus in your own daily life, whatever your circumstances.

This was a very uplifting read and I highly recommend it.

I was given a copy of this book for reviewing purposes, from Blogging for Books.

I enjoyed your thoughts in this post. Very timely, as I've been thinking along the same lines. Spring in 6 more weeks? I'm ready. xo

Down here, we have a wedding anniversary on 17th, Valentine's Day on 15th, and My Dad's anniversary on 19th.All reasons for celebrations. although for Valentine's, I cannot remember doing anything ever. Your words sound happy, maybe the book you have read was uplifting, the weather has been obliging, and flowers have been blooming. Fond hugs from NZ.

Thanks for the book review. That reminds me - I owe one for Blogging for Books, too. Six more weeks of winter...ugh! Counting down the days here in IL, that's for sure. Hope you have a good weekend, Rainey!

That sounds like a good book, Lorraine. I have found really good books from other bloggers reviews. Often those are books I would never have come across otherwise.
I hope you have a wonderful, blessed weekend. xo Diana

Good post! I saw Sherri Sheppard on Dr. Oz yesterday and she talked about fear and what her beliefs are. Then he followed up with a new segment he has started called Faithful Fridays, which was very good.

This sounds like an interesting read. When things become difficult that is the time we need reassurances that Jesus is with us always.
Glad you are able to do some work outdoors. Cold here, both outdoors and indoors as we are getting a new furnace installed this morning.

Sounds like a great book. Thanks for sharing.

We aren't having much winter here ---which may be great for some but scary for others... We need the COLD weather to kill all of the grubs and 'bad' bugs which eat our plants and shrubs in the spring/summer.. We also worry about the spring flowers budding too soon and then we have a horrible freeze which kills everything... It's just Mother Nature --but for those of us gardeners, we just have to live with whatever happens...

Glad you are enjoying your Florida Sunshine.
Hugs,
Betsy

Dear Rainey, thank you for the book review. I am far behind on keeping in touch and for that, I apologize. Life here has been one seemingly never-ending worry and when I read your post about the weather and worry and saw the lovely heart DH made for you, I was relieved to know that come what may, worry doesn't help a thing. Thank you dear friend.

it sounds like a wonderful book ! :) I have often felt that the women in the bible don't get enough attention from the pulpit :)

This sounds like an uplifting book, Lorraine. I confess that my quiet time reading has often been skipped during this moving process, but thank God, "On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand"!
