Good afternoon Folks ~ Here is is another Monday, the last Monday of February. Time is zipping right along.
The give-away contest for the book David Austin’s ‘The English Rose’ has ended and the winner is # 1, who is Rebecca, of Thrifty Style at 68. Congrats to you Rebecca.
Be watching for two more gardening books to be reviewed and given away in the next couple of weeks.
I’ve taken quite a few pictures of roses that have been in bloom the past couple of weeks. Their scents, along with the scents of jasmines and other flower scents have been filling the air around Plum Cottage. My heart if filled with thanksgiving and joy for God’s goodness and His beautiful creation.
I really love roses. Many, many years ago, I told my dear husband that I’d rather have living flowers to grow and enjoy in my gardens than to receive dying bouquets. He went along with my idea and would occasionally pick small bouquets from our own flowers. Sweet, sweet, sweet memories.
Ok, here we go for some rose eye-candy.
‘Don Juan’ compliments of friends Nanci & John
‘International Herald Tribune’ from Rose Petals Nursery
‘Knock-out’ local nursery
Not sure what these next blooms are. I’ve had the bush a long, long time and think it might be ‘Bon Silene’.
This one might be ‘Old Blush’. Have had this for many years also.
‘Carnation’ from Rose Petals Nursery.
‘Mm. Laurette Messimy’. Bought this many, many years ago.
‘Cemetery Rose’ traded with Connie of Hartwood Roses for one of my rose needleworked pieces.
‘Rose de Rescht’ from friends Deb & Charly.
‘Love’ compliments of friends Nanci & John.
‘Fragrant Cloud’ compliments of friends Nanci & John
‘Granada’ ~ I bought this rose soon after losing my dear husband. Bought it at Sam’s Club, spring 2013. Granada, Spain was one of our favorite places and we visited it 2-3 times while we lived in Spain when DH served his tour of duty for the US Navy. The roses in the Generalife gardens had ‘huge’ rose blooms and I’m happy to say this rose produced huge blooms for me this year.
The bud belies the size the flower will become.
Look at the size of this next to my hand. The colors are stunningly beautiful.
‘Winecup’ this color grabs my heart, from Rose Petals Nursery.
S-i-g-h, ~ I hope you enjoyed seeing these beauties. Some are large, some are small, all are wonderful. Some are old garden varietes while others are more modern.
Thank you for visiting and for all of your kind comments in previous posts. I appreciate them and your time in writing them.
Have a great week ~ FlowerLady ~ who will be spending more time in my gardens trying to bring some semblance of order out of this sub-tropical jungle. I’ll blog whenever.

It must be so beautiful in your yard, Rainey. I'm amazed that you can remember all the names of those roses. They must be very dear to you. Hope you have beautiful weather to enjoy your roses!
Hugs
Jane
Congratulations to Rebecca! Such beautiful rose eye candy. We won't have roses blooming until May or June so it's sweet to enjoy your roses vicariously through your posts.
Congratulations to your winner! So many beautiful roses.....I could almost catch the scents! Roses are such sentimental flowers - filled with memories. I am dreaming of rose blooms today.....it is spitting snow. Sending hugs xo Karen
WOW!!! I love all roses, so this post was perfect for me.Thank you.Now I can look at snow for a little longer and still feel refreshed by the memory of this post and all the roses.
Rebecca, Congrats, a beautiful book for you. All those roses, and such huge blooms, they must thrive in your garden ,And with raindrops or dew, gorgeous, and another one looks like a ballerina's tutu.
I think roses must love you so much, Lorraine. They did my father too. Not a one is planted here but I want some so much. That "Love" rose would be a lovely one to begin with!
You are certainly the Queen of the roses! Tell me this, what type of rose feed do you use, and do you prune climbing roses? I'm never sure if I should be cutting into those climbers.
Hi, Rainey. First, congratulations to Rebecca. I'm so glad she won. She's a dear, and an avid reader whom I know will enjoy the book. Now let me tell you how much your beautiful images mean to me. The past two days we have received 6" of new snow on top of what we already have. The sun appeared for about 5 minutes this morning and now it's snowing again. I'm trying to remain positive, but it has been a very hard winter and I long to see my garden again. It is as though God Himself is reminding me that He is near and that these days will pass, spring will appear, and once more I'll be in my garden enjoying the blooms He has promised me. Love you, sweet friend. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous roses. They're amazing. Hugs, Nancy
Congrats to the giveaway winner! Your roses are so beautiful. How many varieties do you have? I think that Granada is my favorite. I can't believe how huge the flowers are!
I too love ROSES (as you know). Seeing all of yours today made me smile... We are still in the season of winter (even if it has been very mild) ---so our roses are definitely not ready to bloom yet here. I am always anxious for May to come and for us to have these beauties blooming in our yard...
Thanks so much for sharing your beauties... I know how special they are to you.
Hugs,
Betsy
Congratulations to Rebecca!
Oh my my! Your roses are absolutely positively gorgeous! Scrolling down with every photo it was as if I could smell the fragrance of their beauty.
Thank you for sharing your beauty with us, dear Lorraine.
While we are getting snow you are smelling the roses. :-)
You are loved~~
I always love seeing your roses, while mine here in VA are sleeping. Winecup is on my list of roses to add to my garden, when I have space to do any adding. I'm very glad the the Sacramento Cemetery Rose and Ruth's Wavy are doing so well for you!!
