Good morning Folks ~ It is Thursday and Hurricane Matthew is drawing ever closer. It is 7:06 a.m. and the winds are still calm, but will be picking up as the day progresses.
Here is the forecast for today & tonight.
My dear husband and I went through hurricanes Frances, Jeanne & Wilma, all three bad, Wilma the worst, right here in this little house. It’s where I am planning to be through this one. I have offers to go to stay with others, but I would worry about this place and my three barn kitties if I left. The barn is strong, they should be ok, while Miss Tork and I will be here inside Plum Cottage.
I could not eat supper last evening, too keyed up. I had watched a couple of spiritually uplifting things on you tube, and was going out to check the mail, when I got the idea that the one piece of window covering that I couldn’t figure out where it went when the guys were here, could possibly be for the screened porch door. I threw on my long pants, socks and shoes and headed back to where it was stored, looked at the screw holes in the wood, looked at the porch door and sure enough that’s what it was.
I carried it out over to the porch, looked at the wood and thought I needed 3” screws, then headed to the workshop for screws and a screwdriver. Then, I had to figure out how to prop the section of wood up high enough for me to be able to screw it into the door. I used a short concrete flower pot, with a square of marble tile on top, then two bricks and that raised it high enough. I screwed in a screw, then saw that DH had written on a section of the wood 2 1/2” screws. So, I went back to the workshop, but couldn’t find any that size at all, so continued using the 3” screws, which worked just fine. I thanked God for giving me that thought, and for giving me the strength to get the piece fastened to the door.
After that, I watched a couple of spiritually uplifting music videos and then a couple of good sermons and was blessed and refreshed, looked at the clock and saw that it was 9:46 p.m. Oh my, way past my bed time, I shut down the computer and went to bed. I fell right to sleep and didn’t wake up until 4:05 and decided to get right up.
This morning I’ve been thinking about God being with me at all times, that He lives inside of me and about trusting in Him and the words ‘fear not’.
No matter what I face, He is by my side. He has promised to never leave or forsake me. Below are some scripture verses for me right now, but they are also for all when we are in difficult times in our lives.
Psalms 32:7 ~ Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me with songs of deliverance.
Psalms 107:28-30 ~ Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.
He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
This morning I read: “Fear not! Take courage, for the Lord is a Savior to His people.”
Also in Matthew, no coincidence, now that I think of it, 6:34 ~ Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Deu_31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not.
**Jdg_6:23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.
1Ch_28:20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee;
Isa_41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
**Dan_10:19 And said, O man/woman greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
Luk_12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Rev_1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
Ok, that’s the latest. My stomach is telling me it’s time to eat.
Thanks again for all of your love, prayers, encouraging words and support.

I am glad you are feeling better, but I have to say, as I watch the coverage on TV, that I would feel better if you went to stay with someone. If you should get hurt, you are putting not only yourself at risk but the emergency people also who would come assist you. The cats will be fine. They will find a place to hide. Gather a few important items and get to a friends house. It is better to be safe than sorry. Please. Love, Kit
Thinking of you and praying for your safety. Yes, God is with you at all times and HE will see you through this too. I know it's scary being alone, but with God you are not alone completely. All your shared scriptures give hope and comfort at a time like this. You are courageous and an inspiration to me in all you've been through. Sending friendship hugs your way and lots of prayers in the hours ahead. xo
Dear Rainey, I'm going to blunt here and just say, if the authorities say to evacuate, please do so.
Hugs for courage
Jane
Take care and always remember the verses you posted assuring us all that God is with us always.
Rainey, I'm on tenterhooks here watching the weather in Florida. My first thought on waking up this morning was you. I checked the weather, read the forecast and am very worried. If you did evacuate, where would you go? Are their shelters for hurricanes? (You'll have to forgive my lack of knowledge, I've never been in a hurricane.) I can only imagine the traffic and panic. I am praying for everyone's safety and hoping that this storm loses intensity. Your bible verses have helped me, too; we are praying!
Rainy, I can understand that you want to stay in your home, I would probably do the same. I will be praying for your safety and that of your dwelling place. I hope the storm takes a turn and misses you completely, but If not, I am glad you have Christ for comfort in the storm.
Keeping you in our prayer and hope your fair well through the hurricane. Shouldn't you evacuate? Things sound really gloomy for Florida even though I'm not sure of your location and how it will be affected. Sending you positive thoughts for your safety. Your were created in securing the window with the wood.
Praying that you will be protected from the fierceness of the storm.
Rainey, are you on the western side of Florida? The east coast will get the worst of this, and you might be spared, but even so you are prepared.Do you have a torch? Any way you can contact anyone if the power is off? a mobile phone? Can someone lend you one? A small bag packed in case there is compulsory evacuation? Love your practical side and getting those screws in, well done. Your bible verses have given you faith and trust, and we must believe you will be safe. Hugs and love.XXXX
I came by to see what you were doing...evacuating, staying, or what...stay safe and surrounded by angels :)
I'm praying for you and your beautiful home. Stay safe my friend
My Dear Friend - I am praying to St. Medard, the patron saint of storms, to stand by you and protect you. xx Karen
I'm worried about you...I know you want to stay in your home, but please, if the authorities tell you to evacuate, it's for good reason. Please do so. The cats will be fine whether you're around or not. They know where to hide in the barn. Your safety is of the utmost importance.
Hi Rainey, It's 3pm here in AZ, probably near 6 where you are! I am praying for you and, of course, all those who are being affected by Matthew! Believing for safety and peace! Bless You!! Cindy xo
Take care dear Rainey, we are getting updates down here in Aussie and I'm worried for you as are a lot of folk. I just loved the hearts that your darling hubby carved into the wooden window covers. Now that they are all in place, he is surrounding you with his love and protection too. You are one very brave lady to stay in your home but I can understand why. Take care my dear and please try and let us know how you are as soon as you can.
Love and gentle hugs coming your way and for all the folk that will be going through this terrible time.

Rainey, I'm keeping you in my prayers. We went through Wilma too. Stay strong and safe! We're expecting rain and some increased wind gusts over here on the west coast. ♡♡♡
Watching the storm develop over TV. Praying for our peace and protection ♥
And there is this promise from Deuteronomy 33: The eternal God is your refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Jim's brother and wife in Orange Park are planning to batten down and stay at home--their daughters and grandchildren are also in FL--prayers that all will weather the storm.
Although you've had a bit of work to storm-proof your house, sometimes have tasks to accomplish is better than sitting and waiting for what may happen.
Wishing you safety!
Hoping the storm is not as bad as predicted. Stay safe!
