So we did, and he didn't need directions, he's a guy, and uses one of these regularly in his line of work. Well, he did the whole east scullery wall, in maybe 30 minutes. I didn't check the time. We were both impressed at how well my little electric pressure washer worked. I watched how he did it, then asked him the steps to starting the thing and said I'd give it a go today, and that's what I did.
Here's the second wall I did. The first wall was inside the screened porch, and there was no peeling paint, as it's under an aluminum roof, so it basically just was cleaned. No picture. This wall is the living room wall, east side.
This is the south wall of my creative space. I did this after my nap. We put this door here, but we do NOT use it, it is blocked off by a work surface and storage units.
You can see in these pictures that my sample painting did not peel off while using the pressure washer.
Tomorrow I have a women's Bible study that I do to, so I won't be doing any work then. I 'may' try to do some tomorrow afternoon. I have Thursday and Friday to do more, but want the walls to be dry for Saturday. Some walls do not have peeling paint and are under cover or on the north side of the house, so 'should' be relatively easy.
I am so thankful for the outpouring of love and labor that 10-20 people will be doing for me Saturday. We will grow closer as a group and closer to God also as we work together.
I've had blooms from three of my newest roses and I love them all. New growth is happening on the rest.
Well, I am feeling ready to 'get horizontal' to read before sleep.
Thank you all for your love and support. It is priceless to me.

Time to sleep after a busy and productive day, and how good you have a group rallying round to get the job done.
I am so happy for you that you will have help making your pretty home alittle prettier on the outside. Cannot wait to see it.
Lots of work involved. It is so good to see your church family stepping up and helping out.
Good thing you had a pressure washer, scraping is so slow. I just know it's going to be lovely, freshly done up.
My delivery came from Rose Petals Nursery this afternoon, and I'm more than pleased with the two I ordered. They were packaged so well, just like you described, and the roses are very healthy looking. Thank you for sharing the information about the nursery.
Have a good week. _Janice
I hope to get them in the ground tomorrow...one already has buds. I'm so glad you posted about Rose Petals
A great beginning!! Its going to look so good and im so happy for you that people who care are there in your life! what a blessing!!
I missed your last post, and willing workers coming, so wonderful. The next photos will show so much done by so many in such a short time. Great that you managed to do the cleaning prep.!!! Well done.
Glad it is all going well.
I've been thinking about your prep work, so happy that someone came and helped you get the power washing done. That's a huge chore! I'll be thinking of you all week Rainey! God's Blessings being prayed over you, your helpers and your cottage!! Cindy xo
Their help is a gift of love. I remember after I got married, one of my friends from school headed a group of high school kids that spent their Saturdays in the summer working on the homes of the elderly doing this same kind of maintenance.
I'm so glad you are having this group to help you. You'll get a spiffy paint job!!
Xx, Carol
Looks like you've made some good progress! Isn't it wonderful that there are so many kind people in this world, willing to lend a hand! I just love that! Can't wait to see the results! xx Karen
Looking good...it's going to be an exciting day Saturday.
It's looking good! I can't wait to see the final results!
We are starting to get a few plants that look like they are starting to show growth. Yay for Spring! :-) Have a great day FlowerLady!
Preparation for painting is the biggest and most important step in any paint job. Good luck! Looking good!
This is so exciting!! You MUST get photos of the crew as they work ... to display at church, at the very least. Smiling faces, joining together to accomplish a VERY worthy goal. (Prep work is always at least 75% of a paint project. Proper prep makes a huge difference, so it's necessary, but it sure isn't the most rewarding thing.)
I love that your little Plum Cottage will be bright and plum colored again soon!
What an exciting time for you - and how good it will be to get the work finished in such short order. What a fine example of genuine Christian community! Couldn't be happier for you.
I just love that your friends are helping you with this Lorraine. I know from experience the joy they will get from doing this with you. I love working together with folks to make someone's burden lighter.
sending hugs...
such sweet friends.
Looks like a lot of work but so worth it. Power washers are so helpful. We love ours too and it so worth the effort. So glad you have great friends to help you with these jobs. God is so good and you deserve the help!! Blessings for a great rest of the week. xo
Rainey, I've wanted a power washer for years; this may be the year I get one. It's a farm expense so tax deductible but like Dave used to say, "You still have to pay for it." -grin-
I'm tired; we had a couple of days of warmish weather so I've been working outside. Today is cold, won't get out of the 20's and I've spent all morning outside. The cold wears me out, makes me exhausted and there's little to nothing left of me once I get inside.
Yes, actually, I prefer warm, melty brie with my whine -grin-.
Take care of you; and praise God those folks are going to paint your house...PRAISE GOD!
Oh wow! Looks like you have a big job there like at my lakehouse. Can't wait to see how beautiful it turns out.
Isn't it something how God pulls people together and we benefit in all sorts of ways? This is very encouraging to read and I's so happy for you! Have a great work day with all those wonderful people!!
I haven't been doing much in blog land but am trying to get back at it. I'd love for you to stop by. Life keeps on and outpours into great days!
Wonderful, FL. You've gotten important steps done first, and you'll have a grand time when they come over.
Hi Lorraine,
I have not been keeping up with blogging very well at all. I'm glad to hear you are getting help to do some things around your place. I hope you are enjoying spring. I had to laugh at your comment on Tina's blog post, saying you were enjoying seeing spring come to the northern states. I am enjoying seeing it come to the southern states, and finding its way to my Nebraska garden.
I can't wait to see how wonderful your place is going to look when the work's all done! And you will have such a wonderful time with all your helpers! They bless you and you them. It's a win-win! Hugs xoxoxo
Glad to hear you have such wonderful friends to help you out!
Prepping is so most important part, as you know. Good job, Rainey. xo
