Prep work & house painting

Good Friday morning Folks ~ I hope you are all doing well. Spring is coming and will be here sooner than we think.

I got a text this morning from a young friend at church, and  a week from tomorrow, the 5th, a few people will be here from the church to paint my house. I am excited and nervous.  I'm a private, homebody type, and my dear husband and I always did everything ourselves, so this will be a bit out of my comfort zone.  I am really thankful though for the loving and giving from these friends.

I probably won't post this next week, as I've LOTS to do to get ready. Keep me in your prayers to remain calm and unflustered. :-)

I will show three pics of the before, then the rest of befores and after shots when all is done.  I hope to get some 'in progress shots' done too.  In the bottom two photos I've started moving things away from the house. More to do there and things off walls, so scraping, pressure washing, caulking, and then painting can be done.

Now for some more rose pics, plus one of my lady statues.

Well, that's it from soon to be, once again, 'Plum Cottage'.
Have a great weekend,
FlowerLady

How wonderful that they are all going to come and paint your house! I'm sure it will look terrific when it's done, I can't wait to see the pictures. I'll keep you in my thoughts this week, I know I would be flustered if I was in the same situation. There's just something about having different people around the house, it's always nerve-wracking.

I hope everything goes well, and you have an awesome weekend AND week! :-)

I know having people over is difficult for you. You have done a couple of things this past year and the beginning of this one that are not in your zone and you made it through. Maybe God is leading you forward to do something new. I will be thinking of you especially this next week.

Me too! Makes me a nervous wreck to have help inside or outside. Sometimes you just have to relax, and go with the flow. Can't wait to see 'Plum Cottage' all done up.
Lovely roses too! _Janice

That will be fun to have it done. I am planning to hire someone to paint my old house and wow that is what I always did by myself. We will have to negotiate a new color as it is time to move on from the coral color we have right now. I guess any pastel color would be good for me. I hope all goes well and do let people help you move stuff out and away from the house if it is too heavy.

Dear Lorraine, how wonderful that you get help painting your house. I hope that all will go smoothly and exactly like you want it go.
I can imagine that getting the house ready to be painted is a lot of work by itself, but it looks like you are making good progress.
Looking forward to photos of your freshly painted cottage!
Warm regards,
Christina

How exciting that you're going to have your house painted!! As a fellow homebody and DIY-er, I can relate to your apprehension about having people come to help. I think that it is often more difficult to receive help than it is to give help. Just try to remember that they are being blessed!

No worries about posting during this busy week, but I'll look forward to seeing the finished project! Maybe even some Before and After pics? :)

What would we do without our wonderful Church families, Lorraine? You will be fine, and the house will be gorgeous, I'm sure. Beautiful roses and statue. P. x

I'm sure it is challenging, allowing other's to take care of things that you and your sweet hubby used to do yourself, but I'm sure happy that you have people in your life that are willing to bless you. Can't wait to see how your beautiful 'Plum Cottage' looks when she is finished! Blessings, Cindy xo

You just relax (after you get all that prep work done) and let them help. You are blessed to have those kinds of friends. With several people working, it will be done in no time and not be a difficult job for anyone.

We have arrived at that point where we can't do everything by ourselves, especially if heavy lifting or working from height is involved. It is hard to face that but we do what we can and let the rest go.

I'm so glad you're going to have a "Plum" cottage again! How very sweet of them to help you out.

Don't work too hard getting ready. You don't want to hurt yourself again.

hugs and love to you,

I'm sure you'll be surprised at the warm people who are coming to paint your house. We've been part of similar projects in our town. It's amazing what a few extra hands can accomplish when their hearts are in the project. All the best!

Haha - love that last photo of your fence and your sweet face I see peeking through. Very cute. I've always admired your shabby chic lady in the garden. Would love to find something like that for mine. I love to hear of churches helping widows and orphans. It's as God intended it to be. And don't you feel bad about accepting their help. To not do so would be robbing them of a blessing. Gentle hugs, Nancy
