Accomplishment

Hi Folks ~ Hope you all are keeping warm in the US.  Even down here in s.e. FL it is 'cold' for us.  It was 51 earlier and felt like it was 43.  BRRRR.

Last Thursday after dropping Miss Rosie off at the pet adoption center, I did some shopping using Christmas gift cards and Christmas $. I was north of home by about 30 minutes and worked my way back home stopping and shopping. I was gone from home 6 hours. I could hardly believe it.

One thing I got was a new printer as my old one, (both Epsons) was having lines in my printing, no good for note cards. I don't know how long I've had it, but quite awhile, plus it sat for awhile without being used when DH was ill and for some time after. So, I did some Googling and came up with the Epson XP-424, small in one. It's wireless, is a printer, scanner and copier, plus it takes 4 individual cartridges of ink. I love that as you only have to buy the ink that you are low on, other printer had that as well. This printer was just under $50 at Walmart. The first one I had was an Epson Artisan 50 and we spent much more for it.

This morning I decided to take it out of the box and try setting it up myself. I texted my BIL Todd to tell him what I was doing, he called a little while later and gave me a few hints as to what I would need as to passwords, etc. to set it up.  At first I 'failed', I used the home network password, when what they wanted was the key password from the router. Then I had 'success'.  Yay, me! DH always did that stuff, so I am really happy I was able to do this. I can hear him saying "At a girl". :-)

I printed up some note cards and am really pleased with the results. One of my blogging friends from way back, Val, suggested selling note cards in my Etsy shop. It is something DH and I talked about many, many years ago, selling note cards online. Now I have a shop to do so.  Thank you Val for the encouragement.  I also wanted to print some out because I'm part of a card ministry at my church, and will give some to the other lady involved.

I haven't scanned or copied anything yet, but will.  I want to try scanning real life flowers, as I've seen others do. Something new to learn and have fun with.

Here's my printer. Click on photos for larger view.

Pics taken this morning. A simple, easy orchid that grows like a weed, and an unknown rose that smells heavenly.

That's if for now, from Plum Cottage.
Enjoy each new day.

Isn't it so encouraging when we can figure something out by ourselves. Those women who have a husband around to help with these things, might not understand, but I do .Way to go!

I'm almost totally ignorant when it comes to electronic gadgets! I have finally learned to scan and print things.
It's really cold here today! We're hoping there will be no ice or snow on the roads; our chickens go out tomorrow and if the trucks can't make it in then there will be more days of work! lol
How very nice to still have blooming flowers!

I'm impressed! I wouldn't have known how to get the printer set up and operating! I know you'll have fun creating the note cards. Good for you.
By the way, your cold temperatures sound quite WARM to me! :)

Well done to get the Epson all set up. Here, I do all the IT tech stuff, and now with Hugh having an iPad, do some of that too, You will so love the wireless setup, and a scanner, way to go!!! Love your flowers today. We have 25C, after days of 30C, and it was 99% humidity for those days. now a lot less, and the slightest, whisper, of a breeze trying so hard to say " Here I am!!". Enjoy whatever weather comes your way.

It is so exciting to get a new printer!!! YAY! I hope you will scan live flowers...its a ton of fun! I did it for a while. The look kind of reminded me of a kaleidoscope. I am jealous of your ability to only change one of your color cartridges...I still have to change them all on my latest HP. Its only 5-6 years old, but I guess that is old for technology! I rarely come on Blogger anymore, but always like to catch up with you! Take care.

How great to read this! Good for you! I used to scan some of my flowers too, especially after the rain was starting to buckle them anyway. Dianthus--especially the details of the Dianthus--were quite fun to scan. And fall leaves too, at least up North here. :) Have fun!

So wonderful that you were able to set up your new printer all by yourself! You should be very proud of yourself! I have the same printer, but have not used it much yet. I love your idea of adding cards to your shop. Your flower shots are wonderful. I read your previous post (been off the computer for a few days). I am so glad the tornado didn't come close - saw the news and immediately thought of you. I hope this week is full of small blessings. Hugs xo Karen

Yay, Rainey! I love your new printer and the fact that you were able to install it yourself. Accomplishment Indeed! Mark would be so proud, too. Atta girl! I can't wait to see what you create with this printer, I've seen the flower photos, and they are beautiful.

Thank you so much for the encouragement, too. It means so much to me. Hugs and all my love, Karen

I'm so bad with technology, I'm not sure I could even set up a printer! That's quite an accomplishment. Especially with technology becoming so complicated. The flower cards look really pretty! Hope you are feeling better FlowerLady! :-)

Hi Lorraine, Congrats on setting up your new printer. Your first cards printed are gorgeous. Your hubby is so proud of you. Adding cards to your shop is a great idea. I also do them for my shop from time to time and you will love the process and so will your customers.Trying to catch up a bit. So glad all went well with Rosie and I hope she is in a happy new home. You did very well with her and she should adjust well.

I hope you are feeling a bit better and lifted from your sad moment. It is amazing how our Lord can get us through these trouble spots in life with grief. Praying for you and hope you have a great rest of the week.
Blessings, xo

Good for you. You did it, you set up your printer yourself. I know how good that feels. For some it may be a small thing, but for someone whose husband always took care of those things (as did yours) it's a big deal. I know, because I've been there. My late husband was the "techie". What's funny now, Rainey, is that Dennis relies on me to set up printers, fix internet and computer glitches, etc. Hah! God really has a sense of humor to pair us. Have a lovely day, my friend. Hugs, Nancy
