Good morning Friends ~ I want to thank you all for being such a wonderful, encouraging support system at this time in my life. I felt better yesterday and feel much better this morning. I’ve already got a load of laundry going in the machine and will hang out on the lines to dry when finished washing. I enjoy hanging out the laundry and taking it down too, and most especially enjoy the fresh air scent of it being sun dried.
Last night before bed I was reading the book ‘Friends Through Thick & Thin’ and it really put me in a positive mood before sleep. Here’s the bit meant for me right now.
“It’s not necessary to own a home, but it is necessary to make a home. It can be your nest & reflect who you are. It should be a place that contributes to a feeling of solace & comfort deep inside yourself. Make your own celebrations, moments & rituals ~ being a whole person on your own, is reason to celebrate.’
My little cottage is paid for, it is my nest, it is filled with lots of memories that make my heart glad. So, may I take each day as it unfolds and be glad in it. It is a gift from our awesome God.
This morning I got a wonderful poem from a dear blogging friend, Ilene, that I want to share here.
"The Tapestry
My life is but a weaving,
between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors,
He worketh steadily.
Oft times he weaveth sorrow,
and I, in foolish pride,
Forget he sees the upper
and I the underside.
Not ‘til the loom is silent
and the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
in the Weaver's skillful hands,
as the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned."
A verse from scripture just came to mind and I had to look it up.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ~ Pro 25:11
Thank you all for lifting me up when I was feeling down.

Well, my little 36 day job with Bella and Max is over. It was quite the experience and I’m glad we made it through our time together. Their Dad brought me some goodies from Finland. Liqueur filled chocolates that are wonderful. He told me to just let it melt in my mouth not bite into it, so I did as told and then an explosion happened that was a shocking delight. The other treat is Cloud berry preserves, which I’ve not tried yet. It is made from the berries of a little plant that grows there and in other northern countries. You can read about the plant/berries here.
This morning I ordered three items from Amazon for my needlework aspirations.
Yesterday I started another pin. It is 2 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches tall. It will have a crazy quilt look when finished.
That’s it from Plum Cottage. I may go out and do some trimming of overgrown shrubs, although it might be a little too late for that now, as it’s 9:30. Temp is 86 and with the humidity feels like it is 99. UGH! I am so ready for cooler weather.
Enjoy your day whatever you do,
FlowerLady

I hadn't read your previous post, so I didn't know you were feeling depressed. And very understandably so! I'm glad you're feeling a little bit better though. Sometimes even just a new day makes things a little better. Like my mom says, "Joy comes in the morning." I get this way myself sometimes...in a terrible funk, but then it passes. I think one thing that really helps is keeping busy and also not isolating yourself. It is hot and humid here this week in northern IL too, believe it or not. Low 90's and so muggy. Then crashing back down into the 60's next week. Our weather is all over the place! Typical for this area though. Blessings to you.
So glad you're feeling better, Rainey! Your not the only one that will be glad for the cooler weather. Can't be long now. Looks like you got some nice little treasures there.
Hugs
Jane
Dear Lorraine, glad that you are feeling better! The Finnish treats sound delicious and unusual, I love trying out specialties from other countries.
Hope you get lots of inspiration and joy from your new books about needle work.
Warm regards,
Christina
Your new books look wonderful, and cooler weather, here we hope for warmer days, the fire can be left unlit, no ashes to empty out, and cooler clothes every day.The other day was quite warm, a T-shirt and cotton pants, the next, back to fleece jacket again. All is well here. Hugs to you.
Good morning Lorraine.....glad things are going better with you now.
Have a wonderful day.
Jo
Enjoyed reading this Lorraine. Thinking of you. Take care.
Thanks for being an inspiration. Your posts are honest, not hiding the pain, but at the same time uplifting.Hope the rest of your week goes well.
Hi Lorraine, so glad you are feeling better. Love the quote and the beautiful poem. All so true. Your newest creation is going to be gorgeous. Enjoy the new books and the treats from Finland look divine.
Hugs and Blessings, cm
I've caught up with a number of your posts this evening. I'm sorry to read that you have been both ill and down-hearted. It can be hard to take things one day at a time in faith--even though we know that is how we should function.
I was interested to read that you used elderberry syrup in treating your recent bout of illness. A woman in the neighborhood makes her own. I was hoping to make some--there were some elderberries along the edge of the now-dry brook. When I looked this morning it appears that I missed the opportunity. I didn't realize one could purchase it to keep on hand.
Be well--you are a brave and creative lady!
Looks like you have some nice goodies ordered.
Glad your spirits are lifted...take care.
I like the cottage/nest concept and the other uplifting thoughts from the book that you shared...those chocolates sound delicious...and I find the crazy quilt look intriguing. After the teasing of at least a week of cooler weather here, the heat of the last few days has been extra oppressive! God bless your day and may you experience unexpected joy in small things today! ♥
You are pretty brave to work outside in that heat!! We are having an unseasonable blast of hot and humid weather. Heat index yesterday was 104. It honestly took your breath when you first walked outside. Terry has COPD so I had to force him to stay inside. He likes to sit by the pond and talk to his fish. Boscoe keeps him company.
Stay well and come inside before the midday heat!!
xx, Carol
Good Morning Lorraine!
"Friendship is not won by the giving of things, but by the giving of the heart." You have many dear friends who certainly love you from the heart.
How wonderful to hear that you laid your head upon your pillow last night with a light heart, and then awoke feeling refreshed and ready to great the day the Lord has set before you. :-)
That is a beautiful poem and so very true.
Sometimes the Lord weaves colors of threads in the tapestry of our lives that we may not like, but when the finished product is revealed, it's beauty is awesome.
Enjoy your day in all its beauty and splendor!
Bless you~~ Debbie
What a beautiful poem :)
those candies sound amazing...
off to visit the berry link ...
Looking forward to seeing that heart pin completed. Seeing your needlework projects soothes my soul.
So nice to hear that you are feeling better!
I love that about your nest and making a home. That's how I feel about our old farm house. I am happier here than any place I know. We always get a lift the closer to home we get whether it is just a shopping trip or longer.
I'm so happy you are feeling better! I love your needle work, you are so very gifted! I bet you will really enjoy those items you ordered!! And, you have created a lovely 'home'! Blessings to you, Cindy
Glad you are feeling better. Yes, you should indeed enjoy your nest and it's great that it is paid for. That is always a wonderful feeling knowing it is yours. Love those pins. Keep them coming!
In 1971, Mom sent me to college with that poem; it's been a favorite since. Praying for you, Rainey, praying for you.
