More chilly temps, more flowers, more beaded edgings

Good morning folks ~ I let Miss Tork out earlier and got shocked by the chilly temps.  I just checked and it’s 53 and feels like it is 46. Brrr.  I’m not complaining though, as this weather is great and summer with it’s heat and humidity will be here all to soon.

Yesterday morning I went to the P.O. to mail some things, then headed to the Goodwill Thrift store as it was Sr. citizens day and we seniors get 25% off. I needed some new shirts to wear to work, and I needed some new pants for working around here and possibly for work also. Well, I ended up finding 4 pair of capri pants, and 4 shirts, plus a book on ‘Cottage Gardening’. With the sr. discount and other discounts I ended getting the nine items for about $1.85 each.  I really like my shirts and my dear husband would like them too, and what a deal.

I’ve made 2 more beaded edgings.  They are such a joy to make. Size 30 fine crochet thread and a size 11 hook.

Since I bought two more orchids for my upcoming bday,  I decided to take pictures of other orchids in bloom right now as well as these. You can read about other bday flowers here.

This is a reed orchid. Very, very easy to grow, it spreads and needs hardly any care at all. It grows all over in my gardens. I’ve had this many, many years and don’t have a clue as to where I got it.

This is a Vanda ‘Miss Joaquim’, you can read about it here. I don’t know where I got this orchid either. Probably the flea market many, many years ago. It also spreads easily and grows really well. These are probably 10 feet tall.

This orchid is from my friend Nanci. We don’t know what kind it is.

This is from my husband’s sister and her husband.

This is an unknown I bought for $5.

The next two are my bday orchids to myself, they were also $5 each. No names came with these.

I need to get going for the day.

Love and hugs to all of you. May your life be filled with love, joy, peace.

    1. 90 already? I'm not ready for that yet, that and the humidity and dreaded hurricane season.

I love crocheting these edgings. You've made some lovely crocheted creations yourself.

    1. Thank you Heather. Flowers make my heart sing.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with the edgings. I already have someone who wants to buy one, she's not sure what she'll do with it yet. I will show what I do with them later.

  6. You are surrounded by beauty with all your lovely flowers. What are you doing with your edgings, they are so pretty. I've been looking for a new blog feeder mine is going away and I hate learning new things. I've tried a couple and don't like any as well as my current one. Why do things have to change. What do you use?

    1. I am getting more into my gardens, they are a solace to my soul.

I don't know what some of you are talking about with losing the blog feeder. I read my blogs right from my list on blogger. It is scarey learning new things.

  7. Girl, I want to go shopping with you! I love our Goodwill store but nothing and I repeat nothing is as cheap as what you paid for your goodies. You scored big time. And your orchids, so lovely. I wish it was warm enough to grow them in my garden but that's how it is--always wanting what I can't have. :)

    When is your birthday?

    1. Tops and pants at Goodwill are usually $3.89 each, jeans are even higher, around $6. I just went on Sr. Citizens day so that I get my 25% off, and some of the things were marked half price, or 25% off, plus the sr. discount. I did good that's for sure and I am thankful. I got them all washed and line dried, ironed and hung up, ready to wear. I'm wearing one of my shirts today.

I would love to grow some of what you have growing in your gardens, but they won't grow in our heat and humidity. We all just have to be content with growing what will thrive in our areas.

My bday is the first day of spring. :-)

  8. Love that coral and turquoise edging, Rainey. It looks very southwestern. You sure got the deals at the thrift store. Yesterday our local one was having their final clearance on all the winter stuff and I bought a pretty gold sweater for fifteen cents!

  9. Thanks that's what I wanted to know. A blog feeder is a place where you can organize and read all your blog feeds. It's very convenient when you have a lot of them from different places.

  10. Morning Lorrane (my morning) I read my Blogs straight from the Readers List in blogger too. I didn't know there were other ways. I'm too scared to play around with 'things' something will always go wrong! the perfume from your orchids must be intoxicating, in the nicest possible way.
I could never work with such fine thread or hook, so I will never produce work as exquisite as that.
Oh yes, enjoy that chill while you can. Our chill is just starting to creep in in the very early mornings. Well I'm not really sure one could call it a chill, more a reprieve from the oppressive heat!

  13. Oh how I love love love your Orchids... The only place we see them around here is when we go to the Conservatory at Biltmore. I have a bunch of pictures of those Orchids --which I'll feature on my blog next week.

Happy UPCOMING Birthday. So glad that your flowers bring you so much joy.

  15. You can't beat Goodwill! Shopping there is so much fun and rewarding too. Sounds silly but it is for me. Good buys now you should be set for summer.

  18. Such beautiful flowers and I love finding things at the Goodwill as I can barely find a thing I would wear in the stores currently. The fabrics are all so thin and you are paying three to four times more than you did just 10 years ago.
