Good morning folks,
Just a quick post with surprises from last evening. I had looked out the scullery window and saw that a spider lily bloom had opened, so grabbed the camera and headed outdoors.
As I walked out the door and looked to the right I saw a fantastic sight. There was a slight breeze which kept the vines that the zebras were on swaying, so I’m sorry for the blurriness of pictures. This is the Virginia Creeper vine hanging from the ficus tree. Some of the butterflies were also in motion as they had not settled down yet. I will try to get more of these pictures now that I know the zebras sleep here.
This is the spiderlily I went out to photograph, as seen zoomed in on from inside.
Here it is from outside.
I was awed at the beauty and the wonderful scent that filled the evening air.
This is the clock vine with a visitor.
What a treat it all was. A gift from God and a wonderful way to end the day.
Now it’s time for breakfast, and to get ready to head out back to work on the overgrowth once again.

How wonderful is that!? I've never seen or noticed butterflies "sleeping" before. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Oh! How beautiful and special! I also didn't know butterflies slept but I guess all creatures do. I am so glad you shared these wonderful pictures. When I look at all of your extraordinary flowers I am always in awe of our beautiful and creative Lord! How He blesses through His creation!

What a lovely treat to see so many zebras at one time! I have Virginia creeper but have never seen the butterflies on them. The spider lily is a new one for me too; it's gorgeous!

Loved your pictures! What luck to find the secret place where the zebras sleep and to get pics of them just settling in. Rather magical looking to see several in one place. Maybe you shouldn't clear things out too much. Apparently, the zebras love it at your place.
ReplyDeleteI love it when God gives us these special treats.I think they perhaps happen more often than we think,but I know that I may not always recognize them.I am looking forward to seeing more butterfly pictures.

As usual beautiful photos,we don't get zebra's but I have just walked up the garden and the buddleia nano is full of butterflies.
ReplyDeleteZebra butterflies flutter by so fast they can be extremely hard to capture.
ReplyDeleteSpiderlilies have such delicate white flowers.
Don't you just love Surprises? The first Zebra I ever spotted I called it a Zebra not even knowing it was a Zebra! I am forever pulling Virginia Creeper out of my gardens but now I shall leave it be if I spot it near a tree so as to maybe attract more Zebras to my gardens! Wow on the lily!

ReplyDeleteWhat a treat it is when GOD sends us the perfect opertunity to grab the camera. Looks like you were blessed in full. I too have not been able to capture movement with clarity yet, all my pictures are blurred. The wind and movement are not a camera's friend sometimes. WOW on the spider lily! I have never seen that flower before.
