Again, not a coincidence

Hello Folks ~ Today makes 3 months since my dear husband left this earth to be with God. At times it seems like forever ago, and other times only like yesterday. I miss him terribly, that doesn’t go away and I love him more than ever. I posted on my other blog this morning, you can read it here if you wish, Three months ago today…

I did pretty good at work today, until this afternoon when things started quieting down, then I started to feel that ‘aloneness’ that is so hard to take. After being with someone for 43 years, where you talked everyday about all kinds of subjects, then to have no communication is really rough! Coming home to an empty, quiet house hurts.

I had a selection of music I had made to play while I’m at work, and right before I left for home the tune ‘When a man loves a woman’ by Arlen Roth came on. Our favorite rendition of this song, it is beautiful! Another gift, not a coincidence.

Then on the way home while talking to God and telling him how I was feeling, I spied two iron looking things ‘curbside’. I had to go around the block and then pull up on the sidewalk as there was nowhere to pull over, I got out, grabbed them and put them in the van. They are light weight metal of some sort, but I was smiling. I couldn’t help it. The song on the radio was ‘Everlasting God’ and then I started crying. This was my first curbside find since my husband left this earth.  The last thing we found was in Sept. when he was still up and about somewhat, and it was the funky Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for treasures when I’m out and about but haven’t found anything. These were my treasures, on this day.

This is how they were standing on the sidewalk. They fold up I realized when I put them in the van. They have a hook to hang a plant from in the middle under the glass ball.

This is how they look folded, a ‘heart’ !!! Can you believe it? I’ve got an idea to use them folded like this and mounted either to a fence or a wall.

Here are crocheted, beaded edgings I made today.

It was a beautiful day!

May you all be blessed.

  2. Three months is really such a short time, yet,I know,at times it feels like forever. For me it was about at the three month period that the deep heart wrenching sobbing began. We need to let those tears flow,God sees them and understands. Enjoy the good days and know that when a sad day comes,it too will pass and the sun will shine again.

  5. Ahh Lorraine - three months is it? I so understand what you say when you talk about time - in grief, time has no meaning. Anniversaries are double edged swords sometimes and while it is certain you will be thinking of the sadness, I can tell you are also holding on to the love and the memories of happy times.
Your gifts on this day fit with that don't they...I love the hearts you "found"; personally I think they were planted there for you, a gift for you.

  11. The plant stands are really nice. They would look really nice as a hanging on the fence also though.

  16. I love those iron pieces. They would look great on a fence. Three months, it's hard to believe. You might try getting some books on tape from the library, nice to listen to when you are doing your needlework. Hugs.

  18. That curbside find couldn't have come at a better time... I think your hubby was talking to you from above --and sending his love and heart to you. I can only imagine your loneliness. Have you considered some kind of grief group? My friend in CA who lost her hubby joined one --and has done quite well... Just a thought, although nothing can ever take the place of having him with you.

    Much Love and Prayers, Lorraine.

  19. Dear Rainey, I love your curbside finds, they are gorgeous. Carl was amazed anyone would throw them away. The hearts will look wonderful in your garden and I'm sure your Mark was smiling as you spotted them, no coincidence for certain. I shed tears reading your other blog post, you are inspirational even in the midst of such grief; I felt comforted. Bless you, dear lady.

  22. I LOVE the iron pieces. I"m sorry your husband passed. Thank God you know he's in the arms of God and wouldn't come back if you tried to get him to. You can go to be with him. What comfort that is! Thank God you were loved and married for that many years!

  23. You take each new day as a gift. The aloneness is a very hard part of loosing a partner. God eases it and all the projects you find keep you creative and busy do help. God is good and may your pain become less each day.
