It feels like summer on 1st of December

Hi Friends ~ Thank you all for your condolences, prayers, thoughts and encouraging words. I appreciate it all more than words can say.

I can hardly believe it is December already. I strung lights on the outside of screened porch off the kitchen/main entry this morning and was sweating. I checked the weather around 12:30 and it was 85 and felt like it was 94. What? Rain is predicted, but we’ll see if that happens or not. We are really dry here and rain is much needed and will be appreciated.  I have three days when I can water with the sprinkler, hand watering can be done any day.

I’m glad you all enjoyed the photos of the garlic vine. The flowers are almost all gone now, the glory is short-lived but greatly enjoyed.

I set up a small tree and a smaller tree this year. I’m still working on decorating them, a slow process that I am savoring, while listening to Christmas music. I’ve still the nativity to set up too with the heavenly host.

Here are some pics of the start of decorating and the sheer fabric with stars that I’m using for the skirt around the main tree. I’ll post more pictures when I’m finished.

Monday I got in the mood to make a loaf of oatmeal bread in my bread machine. The recipe was the first one made in my first bread machine and DH and I both enjoyed it.

Tuesday night I started having a slight cough, and decided to just spend the day at home yesterday. I got a homemade veggie soup going in the crockpot and went back to bed. Thankfully the cough hasn’t gotten worse. I’m still just puttering around today not doing much.

I am working on a Christmas gift and am loving it. Have three more to work on also. Tomorrow I plan to go to the local bead store to get some beads needed for a couple of the gifts in the right color schemes. Smile Here’s a photo of beads I’m using on the piece I’m working on now. Creating again is just what I needed and it is something DH always enjoyed seeing me doing. He was my encourager in so many areas of my life.   See my very thin beading needle at the bottom. Beads are mostly size 11 seed beads, some bugles and a few others.

These ‘dusty’ peacock feathers caught my eye this morning with the sunlight streaming through window onto them.

Christmas baking will begin shortly, have several things to make and am looking forward to it. May you all have happy times preparing for your Christmas celebrations.

I have much to be thankful for and I’m sure you do also.

That’s it for now from Plum Cottage ~ FlowerLady

I'm so glad you are enjoying yourself, Rainey! I love that fabric you used for the tree skirt. Making gifts is a nice way to escape. Looks like it will be beautiful.

Terribly sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It is comforting that she knew the Lord, and is with HIM. My mother turns 90 tomorrow, it's amazing. Oh that bread smells so good... I'd love a piece dripping with butter and honey!

I'm so glad you have the Christmas spirit already. Could you pass some on to me? :) It's fun, seeing your decorations going up.

Peacock feathers are works of art by God, aren't they? I just love them. Where did you get yours? I dont have any. Not yet anyway. Those beads look microscopically TINY TO ME--it must take talent and great patience to work with those and make those pretty beaded pieces you make. I don't think I would have the patience for that, LOL. Glad you got those trees up..they cheer up our homes and many times, our lives as well, reminding us of Christmas and how it came to be and why we have it. You know your husband is happily looking down and glad you put those up, dont you think?

What a beautiful photo of those peacock feathers!
You have such an eye for beauty, Lorraine...
I'm enjoying the music of Christmas, too. Comes over our TV network (which I'm thankful to have. We never had "cable" or satellite before, but when my father came to live with us, he requested it). This music is certainly one of the best things about it!
Your trees are turning out beautifully. While looking for ours in the attic, I came across TOO MANY wreathes, garlands, and trees. What WAS I thinking? I filled a car trunk full of them and carted them to the local thrift store.
Have a pleasant day and nurse that cold early ♥

Your trees look lovely.I can't imagine decorating for Christmas in hot temperatures like that.Around here it only feels Christmassy once we get some snow.

A week ago I would have said the same thing but suddenly it got cooler here. I even turned on the heater for a little while this morning. Rain is predicted here too. Funny how we have such similar weather when we live far apart. I hope you get all your outside decorating done before it starts. I like your small trees and wish I had room for one. Hope you feel better soon.

Your trees are looking pretty / it sounds way too hot though! I am in pajamas and a big fuzzy sweater while reading this :) It will be fun to see what you are making for the gifts when you are done :)

I hope the cough disappears and you continue to enjoy the Holiday spirit.

The trees are beautiful and I love that sparkly blue skirt.

Enjoy that soup and bread, nothing better for you in my opinion.

Have a wonderful weekend.

The bugs are going around so take care of yourself. Your little trees are so pretty...I'm glad you continue to decorate and celebrate the season. For some it has become so easy not to. I think making handmade gifts enhance the Season of Love.

I love your little tree, I think it's perfect! And that bread! If that doesn't convince me I need to get a bread machine, nothing will! 😬
