Two things that made me smile this morning ;-)

As I was sitting here at my computer desk, I heard a strange bird song.  My attention was drawn to the window and lo and behold, I jumped up and grabbed camera and put it to the window and zoomed in. (I need to wash my windows for better viewing/picture taking.) The first photo I took was the best.  I do hope to see this lovely bird again.

It is the Spot-breasted Oriole, Icterus pectoralis. What a treat!

I had to do a google search on orange and black birds in FL to see what this visitor was. I read that besides berries and insects, it likes nectar and there are quiet a few of these trumpet flowers are in boom right now.

Below, he/she is with the vanda orchid ‘Miss Joachuim’ in the background.  This Oriole was introduced to FL in the late 1940’s.  I am blessed to have had this one visit Plum Cottage Gardens. Hope it comes back.

The first thing that made me smile this morning was getting an email from Etsy telling me that one of my hearts sold. Smile

It was this one below. Thank you Leslie.

That’s it for now. Later I’ll post a recipe and pictures for strawberry bread. It just finished baking a little while ago and smelled wonderful.

Wonderful that your Etsy is starting to progress well. No wonder, those hearts are gorgeous. And your bird, what a find for the morning. Thanks for your comment, Lorraine, I treasure your words , Judith was a very special friend, for a short 13 years or so, and her funeral was a true celebration of her life.I was honoured to be a part of the service.

Hi Rainey! I know the orioles around here love grape jelly. Probably the ones in Florida do also. :) Congratulations on the your Etsy sale!

Congrats on the sale! I love the Orioles. Ours are Baltimore Orioles and live high in the trees behind us. They grace our feeders enjoying the hummer's better than theirs. I have tried putting oranges and grape jelly out for them but they like the hummer feeders better, lol.

I suspect that as the day went on, you found a lot more things to make you smile.
xx, Carol

Great picture of gorgeous Orioles. I read somewhere that they are fond of oranges cut in half. Might be worth a try to entice them to re-visit.
I love the heart pillows...so intricate and delicately stitched.
Congratulations on your sale and lovely shop!

Congratulations on the Etsy sale.

The oriole is a stunner. We have had Baltimore and Orchard orioles in the past but they don't stay here long.
We have seen none for the last two years even though I put out grape jelly hoping.

Hope your beauties keep visiting.

Another blog, with 'Musing' in the name. :-)

What a beautiful bird. Living up north, I don't think I have ever seen an Oriole. Somehow, they do sound as if they love it, down South.

Gentle hugs,
Tessa

Thank you for your comment, in my blog.

You said that you chose the word 'musings' for your blog name, because you would be writing about different things. I chose it, for the same reason. :-)

And I paired 'musing'... With 'here there be'... ("Here there be musing" blog) Which I love the sound of, in "Here there be dragons"...

And you asked how I found you... I had seen your Icon and comments in other blog. So I popped over. I too am a "lady of a certain age" and I love pretty things. Among other things.

Gentle hugs,
Tessa
