Holy Moly & YIKES

Good afternoon Folks ~ Well, I bought the little electric pressure washer this morning, and two samples of house paint. No way will either of these work. Seeing the colors online through our monitors is one thing, seeing it for real is another whole deal.

That’s the ‘Holy Moly.’

Exotic orchid that I liked online is awful for a house color. I went through other options I had liked, then went online to HD again and found another one, Peruvian Violet, which is nice but still ‘too much’. Exotic orchid on the top, Peruvian violet on the bottom. Peruvian Violet alone in the second photo.

I decided to paint the trellis in the main garden and like it. I’ll have to get a picture tomorrow morning with the sun shining on it.

Buddleia ~ smells like honey.  I love the silvery leaves.

Sweet coloring on the buds.

These lilies bloom every spring all over the county. These bulbs are just in a pot with little soil at all and still they bloom.

These crafty goodies are from Suzanne and I thank her for them.

This is a give away win that came in the mail today, from Sandra at Thistle Cove Farm. This lady is awesome. One hard worker taking care of a farm herself. She lost her dear husband a couple of years ago too. She inspires me.

I have read some of Alexandra Stoddard’s books before and been encouraged and inspired by her photos and writings. This book ‘Living Beautifully Together ~ How to Live Graciously in a Hectic World by Finding Time to Love Your Family, Your Friends, and Yourself’. I look forward to reading this especially at this time in my life.

The YIKES part of my post is that I will most likely will be out of a job May 1st.  I just heard this news, this afternoon and needless to say my heart started beating a little faster as the adrenaline pumped. The building that my boss and my friends Nanci and John own together, where their shops are, was put on the market just a few weeks ago and they had an offer over the weekend and accepted it.  If the inspection goes through, closing will be May 1st and that will be that.  I’ve been there 17 years, I don’t know what God has in store for me next, but I’m trying to stay focused on His taking care of me, just as He has in the past. I will be 66 on the first day of spring, and I’m not a ‘spring chicken’. Please keep me in your prayers. Thank you.

and that you will flow with them,

I WILL pray for you re. your future after May 1...All will be well, Lorraine.

Lovely blooms (as usual). And I, too, like Alexandra Stoddard's books. So simple & uplifting.

Can't wait to see what house color you settle on. It IS difficult, isn't it?

So sorry to hear about your job, Rainey. Gosh! Colors never appear the same on a house as they appear on the color cards. You could always try graying down the color by putting a bit of the opposite color on the color wheel into the paint. We do this all the time here, because we mix our own paints from those miscolored ones from the hardware store. Or maybe the colors just a bit more white to lighten them up?

My prayers are with you about finding another job. I have had the same problem finding paint online is different when you get it. Hope you find the right color you like.

It's so hard to settle on colors even when you have samples to apply. Good idea to use the sample paint on something like a trellis.

It's also hard to look ahead when there is a major upheaval in your life. I pray that the right opportunities present themselves in good time.

God has plans for you and will find you the next job if that is what you want. It seems like a large roadblock but it may be a great new bridge for you. My prayers go out for you these next few months.

Love the Peruvian violet. My kind of color. Also love the Alexandra Stoddard books. I have reread them over the years. I may have to read them again now that you reminded me.

Gotta see the colors in the space you want to paint to really know. You'll get one picked.

I can't imagine changing jobs at our age.I am only a couple of months behind you in age. What I do know is that God is in control and He will take care of you.

Oh, I am going to be going through that paint selection process in a few months and I dread it. I want to keep the same color, so hopefully the store can mix it from the formula I kept from the last time we painted.

Sorry you are losing your job. Things usually work out and you have tremendous faith that it will.

xx, Carol

Oh I hope it all works out!

You might consider contacting the new owners and see if they're going to run the shop. They might really like having someone like you working for them. And you might make some new friends.

But if that doesn't work out, I know God has something in mind for you. He doesn't just close doors without opening another, better, door.

Hang in there, keep saying your prayers, be vigilant for signs. Something will appear. Love you.

I hope that you find something else if you want to....or maybe just enjoy being retired! You have earned it.

Retirement is bliss. You deserve to enjoy life fully at 66 but if you prefer finding another job, I hope you find something you will enjoy.

Everything is crossed for you, fingers, toes and eyes, in the hope that you do find another job you'll enjoy. What a shame it's likely your present job will be finishing up soon.

Having been through paint selection for a couple of rooms in our house, I can relate totally to the fact that they look so different even on paint sample cards to the paint that ends up on the walls. Not always what was intended!

I know God has wonderful plans for you! We'll be praying for His will in your life and that He'll reveal it to you. :)

GOod luck to you with the paint colors and the job search. I'm terrible at picking colors. They always look so different on a large surface compared to the swatch. Do you have a botanical garden in your area? That would be a wonderful place to work!

Put in an application at Trader Joe's! I knew a man who worked there, and he really loved it. I bet they hire part time folks.
Yes, I agree those two colors are both "too much." Hmm. I hope you find a color that you really love.

Rainey, you're welcome for the book and read in good health. As to me being "awesome"...nope just stubborn - grin. God allows me to do what I do and gives me the strength to do the work set before me. Prayers for the job situation...that God will bring the right company and people to you, that you'll be respected, rewarded and renewed in this new season of life. When 2 or 3 are gathered together...and we are...God, please bless Rainey in her situation...job, home, spiritual and give her Your grace and mercy as You lead and guide her here on earth while preparing her for Home. In Jesus name, amen.
