Something new

Good evening Friends,

I hope you all had a good week. Spring is coming and I know a lot of you are looking forward to that. In the land down under, fall is coming and I know you all are looking forward to that also.

The weather has been perfectly gorgeous here. I’ve puttered some outdoors, still have seeds to plant but just haven’t gotten to it yet. I spied a baby tomato plant in my main garden, a volunteer from somewhere, I’m leaving it to see how it grows there.

The other morning I saw a butterfly I’ve not seen very often. I ran in for the camera hoping it would stay in place, and lo and behold it did.  I looked it up in my book on Florida butterflies and it is a Julia.

I’ve read some uplifting, encouraging, spiritual writings the past few days and felt inspired to try something new with crochet and beads, crocheted beaded edgings. I’d ordered a book from Amazon ‘The Beaded Edge’ and got it in January, but haven’t had the heart to make anything.  Well today I made two different designs and was thrilled with them.

My husband would be very happy with me for picking up my crochet hook and thread along with beads, creating something I’ve not done before. I miss his physical, loving encouragement, but I can hear him in my heart, because he encouraged me so much in our life together. These are made with fine crochet thread and small beads.

Yesterday I was looking at a bookshelf in the bedroom, and saw a book that I felt nudged to pull out.  Inside was a little card from my dear husband. The book is an anthology of poems. The poem he sent me to in this little book was “Do I Love You?” The last sentence is, Do I love you – my answer is yes.”  To me this was another gift from God, and again I was thankful. I’ve not been abandoned, my husband’s love is all around me and God’s is too. My husband is with God just in another dimension of God’s creation. We will be reunited one day.

With that I will close. I wish all of you love, peace, good health and many blessings.

What a wonderous surprise to find inside that poetry book!!!

I have always wanted to see a Julia in the wild! I've often thought this should be the state butterfly since it bears my name!!! hehehe. My fav color is orange, so it is a very cool butterfly to me!!! I am jealous you got to see one! :)

I am amazed by your dexterity with tiny beads and delicate threads!
Seeing that beautiful butterfly and being able to take a photo is an inspiring 'gift' moment.
I'm glad you've had these several joys this week.

So glad you got the photo of the butterfly. It is a beauty.
I have not seen necklaces made this way. Very pretty, delicate and feminine.
The gift of a message from your husband is the most beautiful thing you posted. [hug]

Lorraine, lovely little crochets... so delicate! You are indeed receiving messages and that must make your heart so joyful! I am so happy to hear in your words that you are getting stronger every day... there will still be moments, but I can feel your strength and your faith and trust! Cheers~

Lorraine your new header is so pretty, and that butterfly is a gem - we have some MOTHS over here that are similar in colour and shape. They are all lovely creatures. I admire your fine work with the crochet and beads. It's obviously a labour of love. I can't begin to imagine how you felt when finding that little note from your dear husband.
Thinking of you

We sure don't have that Butterfly up here. Would be hard to miss that bright color out in the garden.

Hi Julie ~ I haven't seen very many of these, so was glad to see this one. Maybe you'll see one soon in your own gardens.

I love working with tiny beads and fine threads. God does give us many gifts throughout the day, we just have to have our eyes open to see and then be thankful.

I was glad to get that photo also, as I've not seen many of them. These edgings would make nice necklaces, I had not thought of that. I thought the 'gift' of finding that love note from my husband wonderful. It's amazing how we can forget things and they can come back into our lives later when we need them.

Thanks Heather. Yes, my heart feels joyful and like you said, I still have moments where the tears flow, but my faith in God and His love is growing ever stronger.

Hi Rainey! That butterfly matches your garden, beautiful and exotic. What a wonderful message sent from above. I'm certain there are no coincidences in life, aren't you. Lovely crochet work.I'm so happy that you are getting back into doing it again.

I love the butterfly, what a gorgeous fluttering gem. Your needlework is spectacular and now the addition of the bugle beads is just glorious!

Finding Mark's note in the book brought tears to my eyes. His love is always present.

A lovely reminder from your husband when you found the book of poems.. I nearly cried. When you are out in the garden, you must feel his presence as well. I love the mini crochet. I use to make chignon hair nets from the finest of crochet threads, your delicate necklace reminds me of those. Wouldn't it be pretty to do some small crochet roses to attach to a Barret? Sending you love from the Hollow this fine and sunny day. Your friend, Jeri

The butterfly is a beautiful one. I am glad it decided to stick around. I have birds that don't want to wait until I get the camera ready. God's love is so great.

What a beauty that butterfly is . . . I've never seen one before. I'll have to keep a closer eye out now.

Beautiful post, Flowerlady.
