Louis Philippe roses

These photos were taken today. Louis Philippe is also known as the Florida Cracker rose.  It is a wonderful rose. I’ve  probably grown this for 30 years.  This is not my original plant, it died a few years back.  I need to root more cuttings of this.  It is an easy rose to grow and has a nice scent and wonderful blooms. You can read about it here.

"The Rose is gowned in petaled grace and lovely beyond telling;
She always lifts a friendly face, regardless of her dwelling.
Her golden silence can express to us, no matter where, joy shared;
Give solace in distress from those who fondly care.
The Rose has ways of saying things we much delight to hear;
without a spoken word, she brings and keeps our loved ones near."

Pretty roses! I love roses that grow here in FL. The rose in my little bouquet was a Don Juan, and the orange flowers are indeed coral honeysuckle, one of my favorites!

LP is a lovely rose -- such a vibrant color and the form reminds me of a tiny bourbon.

Your roses are beautiful... I have not had luck with roses, and while I love them, I hate having to deal with the thorns... perhaps I will try again some time... love your St. Francis (?) statue, so weathered and beautiful! Cheers~

It is a beautiful rose. I followed your link; I was afraid it would be a China. Those aren't hardy for me in my Zone 6. Strangely I have had one China rose, Parsons, for almost 20 years. It doesn't have scent though...I have promised to never purchase another rose without scent.

That is a gorgeous Climber, Lorraine... I love the colors. Reds/Roses are some of my favorite rose colors. That one is SUPER... We don't have any climbers here but that one is tempting to try...

Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy

You make me yearn for roses.
Damp and a lot of shade here by the woods
and they just do not well.
I tried 4 when I first relocated 3 years ago
and have one left.
Also,
do you spray all the time?
I know my mother had beautiful roses
but had a regular spraying routine...

Hi Lorraine,
That is a beautiful rose, and I must admit to not having heard of it before. Is it scented? It looks as though it is. I love the way it wraps around your statue of Francis of Assisi.

The color is so lovely....and the picture of it surrounding St. Francis is just gorgeous (and so fitting, given the name the new pope selected for himself.

I don't recall ever hearing of this rose before.

Well I see Betsy and Jerry here. If there is one thing I really love to look at is flowers. I think they are wonderful gifts from God himself.

Hope you come over and visit me.
