Brrrrr ~ it is cold in s.e. FL

Good afternoon ~ It’s cold and windy here today. Needless to say, I’m staying inside. I’ve had to go out a couple of times and it feels oh so good coming back into our warm and cozy cottage.  I am so thankful dear husband insulated the attic 2-3 years ago and put in thick insulation, with a plywood floor over it.  GREAT job he did too and it has made a difference in how it feels in here summer and winter and with our electric bills too.

This morning I went out into the workshop and used the little and the big bandsaws. Scary, but I DID IT. I cut two notches out of the corners of one end of a piece of wood to use for a little shelf. It was exciting and I’m happy that I did it.

Your photos are always inspiringly lovely.
Its cold here also--but no flowers other than some daffodils that have huddled in their buds looking quite blighted.
Do be ever so cautious with those tools--I always cringe when my very experienced husband is using them.

Congratulations of using the bandsaws! You can do anything you set your mind to! It's kind of a thrill using power tools. I have a little bit here and there.
As always, your flowers are gorgeous and such a joy to see.
Our temps were in the 20's last night with wind chills in the teens!
Blessings~

Congrats on using the power tools... I love using power tools, building my own things and being just that much more independent! Beautiful photos... we've got more snow here (and it's still snowing), I spent the morning clearing snow of the roofs of all our little tarped buildings plus the boat while dear hubby is away on a little man vacation weekend... Cheers~

It amazes us at times the things we can do when we have to. LOL! Good for you Lorraine.
I love your Hibiscus so much. Oh I wish I had flowers in bloom.:)
Not too long yet to wait I hope.
I hope it does not get too coll down your way. Have a lovely week ahead my friend.

You ARE a brave one - approaching and managing those saws!

I had to think what a contrast they (the saws) are with their noise, utility, size & function when juxtaposed with the soft, fragrant, sweet and quiet glamor of the flowers.... D'ya know what I mean?

Sun shining in N.E. Indiana doesn't seem to make a difference in the temperatures up here. Brrrrr!

Have a blessed week, Lorraine.

The hibiscus is such a beautiful flower!

I love woodworking. Wish I had time to do it and learn how to use more power tools. Good for you for jumping in and getting it done.

All your blooms are looking good to this eye right now.

Good for you. There was a time when I would have loved to have such equipment and learned to do woodwork. You have a good resource there to learn to use. It's still too cold here to get outside. This is the time of year people start getting cabin fever in this area. Hugs.

I love your pictures of the Bon Silene backlit by the morning sun. I have a Bon Silene too--it's one of my favorite roses.

Amazing you are
using a saw :)
As always
your flowers are beautiful.
Cold here today but with sun.
No wind hits the deck
and I sat in the sun for an hour
with a blanket wrapped around me.
Oh
the sun felt wonderful :)

Lorraine, the flowers are soooo pretty - and you are welcome to send a little of your cold my way!
I am AGOG with admiration at your bandsaw adventure - and here I am quivering at the thought of a hammer drill!!
Mark was very wise indeed over the insulation.

I don't do bandsaws or roses! LOL

Great post. You should be proud of yourself. And as always, I love your roses.

Have a great week.

I remember the first time I used my hubby's jig saw, I was terrified. I just knew I would cut a finger off...LOL But I didn't! Congrats! I love all the projects you are working on. :) Kit

I hope you are staying warm. I see by the weather again today that you are going to be cold. Your flowers seem to tolerate it as they know it will warm up during the day.

Beautiful Blooms on this dreary day for us as well. We need the rain but it is depressing when cool temps are added...

I am a lucky gal as when I went to school so many years ago, we were forced to take 1/4 school year of Art-Home Economics-Wood shop-Music so I learned how to work with power tools while my brothers learned to sew and cook! Was a great assest and wish everyone today had that experience as it makes for a well rounded person...

Saws scare me. I don't like them. I bow to you, dear friend for your bravery. :)

I love your pretty blossoms. It doesn't look like the chill in the air is affecting them at all. And I'm glad it's warm indoors for you. Hopefully it will warm back up to normal soon.
