A heart project :-)

I am a lover and collector of hearts, and flowers of course. Well, I got this idea to make a little heart patio in front of the caravan, west end. We have some bits and pieces of green serpentine marble that we bought at a yard sale many, many years ago stacked up as we couldn’t figure out what exactly to do with them. Well, here’s a project planned for some of them, not all but some.

I saw some black plastic edging as I walked around this morning that I hadn’t done anything with and decided to use that to ‘mark’ out the heart. I used some scrap aluminum for the stakes. The shape still needs a little tweaking, and to have the weeds pulled out of, sand put in and tamped level, then I’ll look at marble pieces to see what will be the right fit to make this project. Then, I’ll figure out how to fill in the spaces with concrete or mortar mix.

I’m also going to incorporate a hand print of DH’s and paw print of our old hound dog Blub. Probably in the center.

I keep getting ideas inside and out, and it gives me something to look forward to with the gift of each new day, and I’ll learn new things along the way.

Thank you all for your love, support, prayers, emails and gifts. I really felt blessed yesterday, encouraged, inspired and motivated too.

Here’s a piece I got in my email this morning from Grief Share.

"Knowing the Lord and His comfort does not take away the ache; instead, it supports you in the middle of the ache. Until I get home to heaven, there's going to be an ache that won't quit. The grieving process for me is not so much a matter of getting rid of the pain, but not being controlled by the pain."

Grief is deep and it hurts, it sneaks up on you, it doesn’t matter where you are and you are overwhelmed. But, we just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other, moment by moment, resting in the knowledge that God is with us and cares deeply for us. If we give in to despair, we are of no use to God, ourselves or anyone else. We will miss out on blessings.

Enjoy these next few days of this year. Be thankful for the year that you’ve just had. Look forward to positive things in the new year. Learn and grow from mistakes.

What a wonderful quote. I can see you are determined not to "miss out on blessing" :)

Your "heart" idea is a great one. It will turn out beautifully. I can't wait to see it.

Snow & blowing badly here! No yard work for me today....

Lorraine, you are so strong, and DH would be so proud. Lovely words, yes grief is so personal and individual, we cannot take it from you, but share ,and hope our words, messages of love, care, and more lift you up at low times. The heart is super, and the foot and hand prints, well they are so special. Enjoy the new project.Fond greetings, Jean

Beautiful project, Lorraine. The imprints you have will be perfect in the middle. Joy also sneaks up and takes you by surprise when you least expect it.

This is a beautiful post Lorraine. I love the idea of your heart patio and I look forward to seeing it all done - it will be a wonderful little place.
These next few days of the year are always my favourite; looking forward, and back, quietly puttering and just loving life in general.
Thinking of you,

I love how you're here encouraging all of us when you're the one who is going the through such a difficult time. I'm so glad to know you and have you for a friend.

I hope your Christmas was peaceful.

I thought of you when I remembered this Storyteller's Creed. We're both storyteller's in blogland. And I've always loved this:

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.

That myth is more potent than history.

That dreams are more powerful than facts.

That hope always triumphs over experience.

That laughter is the only cure for grief.

And I believe that love is stronger than death.

I always love the beginning of the year because I can put the failures of the last year behind me and start again. I need to get back on my low carb diet and lose some weight, but I'd also like to do some creative projects, I'm not sure what yet. I tend to start the year by organizing my desk and files, setting up my budget book for the new year and so on. Up here in the NW we usually are stuck in the house for several months because of rain and sometimes snow. I look forward to seeing how your heart turns out, very creative.
