Hope you’ve had a lovely day.

Good afternoon Folks ~ Hope you’ve all had a good Christmas, with little or no drama, lots of love, laughter, good food and good conversations.

We had a nice quiet day and since I had packets in the freezer for today’s meal (from Thanksgiving), all I had to do was make cranberry sauce this morning, and heat up the meal in the freezer. Turkey breast with sherry, green bean casserole, and sausage cornbread stuffing. We also had some homemade chunky applesauce and a glass of white wine.

Here are some blooms from Tuesday morning.

Morning glories

Tecomaria capensis or Cape Honeysuckle and morning glories.

Tuesday evening we celebrated DH’s birthday.  We had Cedar Planked Atlantic Salmon with Orange and Ginger, delicious! Served it over rice with a side of broccoli and a couple of glasses of chardonnay. We started out with margaritas served with crackers spread with cream cheese and topped with a sliver of anchovy and a caper. For dessert we had Key Lime pie in a graham-coconut crust.  Yummy.

Wait, stop eating I want to get a picture. Smile

Here are some pics of latest caravan work. After painting the floor with several coats of paint, DH drew the hexagonal tile shapes, then started painting the floor on his birthday.

Here the floor is as of the 22nd. He said he’s going to have to give it a second coat as it is thin in spots.  After that he will paint on a couple of coats of polyurethane. This is painstaking work, and he’s doing a great job. I wouldn’t be able to be on my knees doing that, hunched over.

He was sneaking around here the 22nd and 23rd working on something and I found out this morning what that something was.  We recently got a cell phone for me to use strictly for 911 calls or if I need to call him when I’m out on the road.  Neither of us likes using the phone and we are NOT giving this number out to anyone as there are limited minutes and it’s for our own use. We’re weird I know.  But anyway. He made me two boxes, one to store the info and charger in, and the other to hold the phone so it won’t get smashed in my bag that I carry to work.  He used oak laminate flooring, molding, and masonite. I love it and that he made it for me. The big box stays at home.

He made an opening in the bottom to keep dust from collecting.

I won’t add pictures about my tatting needles and first attempt.  You can see that blog post over at FlowerLady’s Creations.

Well, this is a long post, that’s what happens when I take a break from posting. Smile

Enjoy this last week of 2011.

Merry Christmas to you little Friend. Sounds like a very nice Christmas. It was good here, weather not so bad. Happy birthday to DH. What a birthday meal you planned for him. It looked delicious! Love the work he's doing on the caravan. I showed my daughter (who is working on her camper) his floor idea. It looks great. Your flowers are lovely. I have nothing blooming presently. How sad and dreary it looks here. Merry Christmas!

FlowerLady, it sounds like you had a very nice Christmas Day! I love your morning glories! Prosperity also looks beautiful and I like that touch of blue that the morning glory adds to this photo growing in the back ground. Awesome wood boxes for your cell phone that your husband build for you. You are so lucky that he is handy like that :-)! The birthday dinner for your husband looks ultra delicious. You are such a great cook! I am glad you indulged yourselves on that day. Wishing you a nice last week 2011 as well!

I absolutely LOVE your boxes and I know first hand the treasure of a handmade gift (in your case, gifts).

And I don't think you guys are "weird". . . I would say smart (for lack of a better word!).

Your blog continues to provide me with joy - like a nice, calming read at the end of a long day.

Thanks for allowing me to share in your world.

Your menus are quite delicious-sounding! (What a great idea...freezing thanksgiving meal, etc.)

That floor is going to be a masterpiece! One year, when my husband directed a camp, we sponged a large concrete floor using a large, rectangle-shaped sponge to look like bricks. It really turned out quite fine. We, too, coated the floors with several coats of clear finish then...

So pleased to read your comment on not liking the phone.
Our children gave us a mobile phone for emergencies after Mr.T had a heart attack several years ago but we only use it as you do for emergencies, it is left on for the children to call us and they are the only one's with the number.

We have a phone indoors but this is unplugged most of the time as we don't like callers. I know people think us a bit wierd but we like our privacy and quiet.

The floor is wonderful, but as you say I couldn't bend down for that length of time and neither could Mr.T. It is such and achievement and will mean so much every time you look at it.

The food sounds delicious and slightly exotic to me landlocked here in the midwest.

The boxes are beautiful creations. You will really appreciate the one for your purse. Ihave turned mine on/off and activated the camera several times with gadgets hitting it in my purse.

I am really impressed with the terracotta floor 'tiles'. I can't believe he is doing that freehand.
He is really an artist.

And, as always, the beautiful flowers.

Hope you both have a wonderful New Year together.
