Strawberries, Blooms, Rain

Good morning Folks ~ It is a gray, drippy Tuesday morning and I'm not complaining. We finally got some much needed rain yesterday. It started in the morning, let up for awhile, then we got some more later in the afternoon, early evening. We had some thunder and lightening, and more of that is expected today. I just hope it's not raining as I drive to and from work. I am working a 5 day work week this week, so there won't be much time for gardening at all.

My lower back is slowly mending. Sheesh! DH has given the area some deep tissue massage, and that hurts like heck, but in a good way. He even did some reflexology on my feet the other night, and I couldn't believe the sore areas in both feet. I'm taking herbs and vitamins, and DH has used an essential oil blend I made up for massaging into muscles, and that works good too. I'm not as young as I used to be, so need to do things differently. Lifting heavy items takes its toll on you. Anyway, thanks to all for your feel better wishes. They are greatly appreciated.

Here are my strawberries, not real ones, but beaded ones. DH had gone to our friends yard sale the other day and he was given this to give to me. DH bought the beaded parrot from this friend awhile back at another yard sale he had.

Now here are blooms that are going on now.

This is Jane Cowell hibiscus.

I don't know the name of this red hibiscus.

The next few pictures are of Mme. Laurette Messimy.

She is a sweet little China rose, from 1887.

Her scent is a dear rose scent, and greatly enjoyed by me.

Here we have Old Blush once again.

I sure hope you all never tire of seeing my roses over and over again. :-)

This is Duchesse de Brabant.

Dainty Bess ~ A real sweetheart of a rose, with a wonderful clove/rose scent.

Cocktail rose on the wane.

Last and certainly not least, Kathleen. She's a hybrid musk rose and one of my favorites. I bought her and Cocktail about the same time, many years ago. They both are growing in huge terra cotta pots.

That's it for now. Hope you all have a great week.

I will never tire of seeing your roses; they are beautiful! When you are "down in the back" (per my M-I-L) it's definitely no picnic; I'm glad things have improved a bit. Mine gives me fits when I sit too long.

Growing older does have its moments! not all wonderful.

I never tire of the rose pictures. I can almost smell them. I have a couple of Albas that will bloom first and their smell is wonderful.

Happy to hear you got rain; we are getting a little tired of ours...but dare not complain.

No, I will never be tired of your rose pictures! They are much enjoyed and envyed too! Those massages given by your husband sound very nice, and glad to know you feel better. Those bead strawberries look so real. Especially love the second picture of those strawberries.

Oh, I will never tire of looking at any flowers you have to share. The roses are so special, the older varieties have the best scent.

I'm glad to hear you are on the mend somewhat, it is certainly a trial to have back pain. We always worry about our health in this regard too, since the rocks don't get any lighter with each passing year. Gardening is such joy, but it has its moments of pain, too. Take care...

You and DH, whatever his real name is would be nice to know, are the two most romantic couple in blogland. Foot massages, thoughtful gifts, crazy romance.

Well we have had enough rain but still not going to complain as come middle of the summer the water will be needed.

So glad you are feeling a little better. Be sure to adjust your chair at work to fit your needs. If you get to sit at all.

So glad you are getting in a good work week. Hope your back does well.

You take care..

Hugs Chris

We got rain too. It is very appreciated. How cool is it to be able to grow hibiscus and roses in the same garden! Only in Florida. Love all your flowers as always.

I love love love those little beaded strawberries, sweet!
I have mentioned to you before about my reticence to plant roses. Well, today I bought 29 rose bushes. ( I have never been one to do things halfway) But first, I read everything on my shelf about roses and watched 4 DVD's on the subject. I WILL have a rose garden this year!!!

Dainty Bess is my absolute favourite, and I'm liking the look of Kathleen. I had a Kathleen in my grade last year, so I might look out for that one at the Nursery

I'm so grateful you post those rose photos. Before discovering your blog, I had no clue so many roses could be grown in Florida.

So glad you are feeling better. Garden work is tough on the back and I too feel the pains and they seem to take longer to heal these days, sigh...

Your roses are so beautiful, if only I could push a scent button on the computer for the full effect. Ahhh, that would be heavenly for sure...

We picked up our first edible strawberry’s recently and they are really sweet this year. A good thing for one trying to cut sugars from her diet...

Dear Flower Lady, I am so glad you found my blog, because now I found yours! Your roses are just beautiful ... what a lovely March/April garden you have. I am sorry you are having back trouble, and hope you mend soon. Thank you for your good wishes to me. P x

Thanks for visiting my blog. Your roses are gorgeous. I wish I could smell their sweet scent! Glad you got some rain. We only received a few drops - I am quite concerned about going into this summer so low on rainfall. I hope your back gets to feeling better soon. It's hard to do anything - not only work but also just sitting or lying down - with a sore back. Take care!

How unique - those beaded strawberries! As usual the blooms are beautiful.

I may be the slowest one to send "feel better" wishes. We've just returned from a couple of weeks of vacation and I'm just now beginning to catch up. I'm sad to know you've been hurting so horribly but happy that the massage and reflexology have brought some relief.

Learning to pace ourselves is essential as the years begin to add up!

It's raining in NE Indiana this morning. We REALLY need to spend some time in our yard and flower beds! Guess it won't be today.

So sorry to hear that your back is injured, and hope your pain eases completely soon.

How could anyone tire of seeing beautiful roses? :)
