Some changes

Good morning Friends ~ This morning I came across some tips for making our blogs more visitor friendly. They can be found at Donna's blog Funky Junk Interiors.

So, I thought it was time to make a few changes in my own blog. Some of you will notice that there is no more music. Even though I chose soothing music, having that causes computers to slow way down, and I've read that people won't even visit a blog with music. I know from my own experience that I will hurriedly try to find the playlist so that I can turn it off on some blogs, because the music on their playlist just isn't my thing, and it interrupts reading. I want to thank all of you who have commented on and enjoyed my music selection. I may post a link in my sidebar to the playlist, as a stand alone option, for those of you who may wish to listen to it on your own.

Next, I did away with word verification. Some people will not leave a comment if they see that. My comments will still be moderated, to keep spam and possible offensive comments out of public viewing.

And, the comment section is now at the bottom of the page, not in a separate window or a pop-up window.

Plus, I am going to have links to my own hand crafted pieces for sale in the side bar, as well as for some other fellow artists.

I'm reading up on adding a paypal link to my blog posts that will have items for sale. I've got to take pictures, inventory the pieces too, before I upload them to my blog. I hope to have them up shortly. They will be in my blog ArtistikUs ElastikUs.

I do want this to be a friendly place to visit, not one that makes people turn away before they barely get here or when they want to leave a comment.

Thank you all for visiting and your comments.

I hope all the changes do make it easier. I know there are a few blogs I want to visit but the pictures make it so slow for my old computer that I just give up. I have never had an issue with yours though.

It will be interesting to see the feed back. I hope your visitors increase rapidly! It should help the sales of your wonderful projects.

Have a super day! I will be painting.........

Sounds like you've made some nice adjustments. I hope they work well for the items you sell. The music does slow down computers. So do large photos; as in uploaded large even if not displayed large. It's always good to evaluate what one is doing in all aspects of life.

FlowerLady - I'm going to read those tips. I am so new to blogging I often "discover" choices I didn't realize I had. I do like the comments after the post better than a separate window. I like being able to access the post to jog my fleeting memory as to what comments I thought of as I was reading.

Good morning. All very good tips for blogs. I know the word verification thing gets old sometimes and does take a lot of time. Word verification on some websites are also hard to read and I hate having to make attempts at putting them in twice before I get them right.Maybe I need new glasses. LOL!
I hope you have great success with your new selling blog.

I'm waiting for the weather to turn much colder and keep me inside before I make some much needed changes to my blog as well. I don't care for music when I reading either, I make sure my volume is always down. I see the pesky spiderwort lily......they pop up all through our lawn.

Your blog is a very nice and happy place to visit! I went to the link and I do have to say that music on blogs annoys me because it's hard for me to read with music playing. That said, I respect those who choose to have it, I just turn it off. :) Can't wait to visit your artistic blog soon! Have a wonderful day!

Flowerlady - I have always found this a friendly and beautiful place to visit. As you well know - I loved your music selection - often leaving this window open so I could listen to the music as I read other blogs!

Thank you again for posting pics of my jewelry. I truly do appreciate it!

Good advice Flower Lady. I always resize my photos to a smaller megapixel so they open faster.

I have always enjoyed your bog, but I do think that change can be good--it keeps things from becoming boring! Thank your for sharing your info on blogs. Now I am off to make changes on mine!

I did love your music, but I am turned off by some blog music. Some of it makes it hard to concentrate while reading. Also, I find myself cringing when I have to type that verification code, even though I have that setting turned on as well. Hmmm... Maybe I should consider changing that. Lovely spiderwort photo, by the way.

I do love music and I usually have my own music playing while blogging. It is disconcerting when the laptop totally unexpectedly chimes in with other music, however good!

Grateful to someone who pointed out that word verification OR comment moderation is enough. As you did, I went with comment moderation. Love to read comments that people have taken time and effort to leave.

I would still visit your beautiful blog
regardless of what I had to do to come
visit. These are new tips to me, a rather
new blogger. I will definitely try to
get rid of the word verification. I
never liked that anyway. The music
I love so much I just can't leave
that out though.

I always keep my volume turned off. I don't like the music because it distracts me while I'm reading a post.

Your blog has always been a pleasant visit.

You still have some beautiful vincas. They are such hardy plants. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Blogs require some maintenance and renovation, the same as our homes and gardens... Thank you for thinking of us, your readers! Your blog is very cozy, warm and friendly. When I get tired of spam comments, I use a word verification feature. I usually turn it off when I publish a new post, to make it less time-consuming for people to comment. After a day or two, I turn it off again.

Oh, thank you so much! I've always loved visiting your blog but my slow computer/connection didn't like the music for some reason. And the other changes make it MUCH easier to visit and comment! Thank you again!

Well dear, I guess you and I have similar musical loves, but we can't please everyone!

I appreciate your hints. I need to spice things up a bit too.

Thanks so much and hugs for you,

It's all about learning new things with these computers - I think we're all pretty clever as I'm definitely no computer person.

I've always found your blog a lovely and friendly spot to visit but totally understand changes. A link on the sidebar to your handmade things is a fantastic idea.

FlowerLady,
You are correct. The music is off-putting although I always loved your selection. Typically I have my volume turned off to eliminate 'surprises'. To avoid spammers I think we have to have at least one of the options ~~ verification OR comment moderation. Such is life in this blogging world.

Good ideas. Thank you for sharing.
