Feeling thankful

Good afternoon Folks ~ Hope your day was a good one. This morning I woke up feeling thankful, for no particular reason. Then I started thinking about what I am thankful for ~ dishes to wash, laundry that needs folding and putting away, thankful that we can pay our bills, thankful for food to eat and a roof over our heads. Thankful for my gardens, that are a continual joy even if they are continual work also. Thankful to God for His continual caring for us.

Later I went out with camera in hand to see what might be photo worthy. Some shots were, others were NOT and deleted. Some were questionable, but the subject made them worthwhile.

I went back into the secret garden hoping I might catch a glimpse and get a picture too of the hummingbird that I saw while looking out the scullery window yesterday morning.

I heard the little noise that they make and found it, but I'm sure not good at getting pictures of these fast little guys.

This is Old Blush

Mm. Laurette Messimy

Cassia, but I don't know which kind.

Here are tarragon blooms next to the basil I grew from a cutting.

The next two pictures are the same kind of vine, but different colors.

I've always called it a flame vine, but that isn't right.

This is a fallen bloom from the Hibiscus Mahoe Tree

Orange Porterweed

My shed's garden

St. Francis with Louis Philippe rose, or the Florida Cracker rose.

And, here is the prize of the day. We went out to do our errands like usual on Monday mornings, and on the way saw some Pink Muhly grass in bloom in different areas. Well, lo and behold, there was some for sale at our veggie market. For a one gallon pot they were $5.99, I hoped they'd be around $3, no such luck. I've not bought any plants in the last couple of years because of the economy. We did look for this plant in the spring but there weren't any around at the time. We want them for our big concrete and shell flower pots. I had a $10 bill in my wallet that I've had for quite sometime, stashed for just the right thing. I bought one and will divide it in the spring, planting the divisions into both flower pots. For now I put it where I can see it when I wash dishes.

I love this. Can I also collect seeds from it?

Life is huge!

Rejoice about the sun, moon, flowers, and sky.

Rejoice about the food you have to eat.

Rejoice about the body that houses your spirit.

Rejoice about the fact that you can be a positive force in the world around you.

Rejoice about the love that is around you.

the orange porterweed. I

Your flowers are so beautiful. I enjoy seeing them during my deep freeze of winter.

You are so right... I need to be mroe thankful for the mundane things in my life because at least I have them.

That Pink Muhly grass is very beautiful. There is one road near my house has this grass planted at the side of the roads in long row. The mass of pink looks just gorgeous. Enjoy your new plant!

Such a beautiful post. God is good and gives us so much!

Congrats on finding the plant you've been looking for.

Your shed garden is lovely! I will be landscaping around our barns this spring and summer and am excited about having a new canvas to work with.

Hi Flowerlady...It's always nice to have a great Monday, and it sounds like you had a spectacular day. Glad to see you treated yourself to the pink muhly. Sometimes we just have to do that. I love the photo of your garden shed...very sweet!

I appreciate those lovely words and reminders to be thankful! It is so hard to photograph those hummers, that I've nearly given up even trying. I do love watching them though.

It's always exciting to add a new plant to the garden! I wish you had lived closer. My son had a ton of pink muhly grass on his property, much of which had to be mowed over for pastureland.

Your flowers are absolutely lovely and I love the view of the shed with the roses. Yes, Muhly can be grown from seed, no pre-treatment required and very easy.

Being grateful is so good for the soul.

Even though there have been a few little ups and downs, I have had such a wonderful year.

We've had the realization of a dream, in moving to the "country", which happened so quickly and everything fell into place, even down to the selling of our other property in a bad economy. It could only have been "A God thing".

Oh, yes..... you bet I'm grateful.

Your pictures are wonderful.

I always look forward to your uplifting posts....I am grateful daily for our many blessings, especially that I am living exactly the life that was meant for me!
I knew way back in 1976 when we first moved to the farm, that I had found my niche in life.

I could have lived in the 1850's and been quite content....

Your gardens are always beautiful. I am glad you found the grass. I have been noticing some locally that I think are miscanthus with reddish bloom heads....got to find out what they are. The muhly grass is marginally hardy in my zone but it is a beautiful plant and it self seeds...watch for little babies around the pot.

Those hummers are hard to catch with the lens. Your little guy seems very intent on that firebush. So glad you got the muhly grass. It is lovely this time of year. Hoping it re-seeds for you.

Thanks for the reminder to be grateful. I need to be reminded.

I'm a bit surprised that roses flourish so far south. I enjoy particularly your photos of flowering plants that are new to me.
Thankfulness is a habit to be cultivated!

FlowerLady, late again, just got done revising the last post. I had to come over and see what is happening at your home before I head for bed. I love the pink muhly grass, how pretty. I wish we could grow it. I hope you can split the plant and make more of them very soon! Once again, so many flowers the likes of which I've never seen, all so beautiful. I will be getting in touch soon! Karen
