Spring - a time of renewal and reflection

This was first written in longhand, in a notebook, in our recently finished screened room off the back of our little cottage, while sipping a cup of coffee this morning. Birds were chirping. Spring is most definitely in the air.

Sunlight was hitting the tops of trees, clouds were gently drifting in the sky from the west. The temperature was just right. A beautiful morning. A time of reflection and thankfulness.

Sixty-one years ago on the first day of spring, a tiny baby girl was born a month prematurely. She was placed in an incubator and since she weighed under 5 lbs. they kept her in the hospital until she gained weight.

Sixty-one years later this spring baby is very thankful to God the Great Creator and Giver of all life, for her life. Thankful for joys and love, and lessons learned.

She is thankful for the love she and her DH share. He is her best friend. They met on her 17th birthday, and married 3 1/2 years later.

She is thankful for the memories of living in Spain as newlyweds. They traveled around Spain during the 3 years they lived there while her DH was serving his duty in the US Navy. When he was discharged, they traveled 10 countries in Europe by Eu-Rail carrying backpacks, canteens and cameras.

She is thankful for the little cottage they have lived in since coming home from Spain. Thankful for their little compound with a workshop for DH and other outbuildings, and her gardens. The gardens have grown from one to several through the years and working in them gives her much joy.

She was thinking all this as she sat in the cool morning air.

Spring is a time of renewal, new beginnings, joy, color and song.

Every day is also a time of renewal, new beginnings, joy, color and song. Each new day is a gift.

To end this post, this little spring baby, grown into a woman, wishes you all Peace, Joy, Thankfulness and Love. Not just for springtime, but for always.

It sounds like you have much to be thankful for. It's good to remind ourselves of these things. I know I am much more content than I was in my younger years and for that I am grateful. Linda

Happy Birthday. It is a wonderful reflection that you share with us. It is so great to be able to put it into words what you feel. Even though I am not a sole gardening blog, I appreciate you stopping by once in awhile. You and one other person are my connections to the world of Florida.

The world is a better place because 61 years ago that little baby lived. I hope you had a wonderful day filled with special memories.
