A start anyway

Hi Folks ~ It has been a warm, humid day today, it's 80 right now at 4:19 p.m and we've had a few showers. It does not feel like Christmas.

I've been debating about decorating this year and it's still up in the air as to whether or not I'll get boxes out of the attic or not. We'll see, maybe in a week or so, I'll feel differently.

The blog that inspired me to make a wreath today was Notes of Sincerity. I was lazing around this morning after reading Tricia Anne's post, and thought I might have a wire wreath. I checked in my shed and I had two of them, so grabbed one and started thinking about what to use on it.

The only pine we have that I could reach limbs to get any greenery from is our Norfolk pine. We bought this tree to use as our Christmas tree one year, many years ago. It was about 3' high in a pot. Now it's probably 30' tall at least and has been through several hurricanes.

After I got the greenery on, tied on with twisties, I thought of using shells from the beach, for a Florida theme. The center shell is a sand dollar that a friend of mine found and gave me, the rest DH and I found walking the beach. I used monofilament to tie those on, then hung it on the gate into the secret garden behind our little cottage. I love it. It says Cottage Florida Christmas.

This may just have inspired me to get things out of the attic yet.

Have a wonderful December preparing for a love filled Christmas.

I am now inspired to make me a wreath or maybe make a few different ones. I have seen several pretty wreaths using different media. I have magnolia leaves - now that might be an idea. Dirt Princess made a centerpiece with magnolia leaves and it looked real nice.

Love your wreath. Pure Florida.

I always wanted a Norfolk Island Pine. There was a lady here who kept one under wraps through the winters. Maybe I'll try.

I don't think I'll drag out decors this year.

That's awesome! Christmas? It could stay there all year long I think. I love that it has a story to it's parts. That really makes it so special.

I remember my first year (of the 3) in S. FL. Hard to get used to the temperatures but it one of my most favorite places to have spent time. I love your wreath.

Thank you all for your kind comments on my Florida wreath.

Vicki ~ I thought of using shells because the Christmas ornaments are all in the attic. I have a bum knee at the moment so didn't want to have to mess with that.

Becca ~ I bet you could make a lovely wreath using magnolia leaves.

Nell ~ I wonder if you could winter one in your green house.

LemonVerbenaLady ~ Glad to have inspired you.

Tom ~ Living here, we have to use our imaginations and go with what's available.

AZPlantLady ~ It is amazing how your mind will pick up an idea when you see something. I bet you could come up with a unique one from your area. :-)

SweetBay ~ Rebecca ~ Darla ~ Carol ~ Thanks.

Sharon ~ There are so many wonderful blogs filled with ideas and more. It is amazing how many kindred spirits are out there.

LeSan ~ I'm hoping the wreath will stay green until Christmas, but I have my doubts.

Gld ~ How nice to have your daughter and grand-daughter help set up and decorate your tree. That makes it special.

Amy ~ I suppose 80 sounds wonderful to people who are already having cold temps and snow. This morning DH and I were working outside, sweating and complaining how this isn't December/Christmas weather. It is very humid too, so we turned the a.c. back on.

Jane ~ My knee felt really good this morning so I went out and did a little gardening, then it started bothering me again. Dang. It will just take time to heal.

Thanks again everyone for visiting and leaving your comments. They mean a lot and I appreciate your time.

That's a pretty wreath! I would like to trade weather with you for a couple months. Right now, it's 18 degrees and snowing here in Nebraska.

We got our tree out this weekend, and put decorations on it with our grandson. Larry even threw some lights on our front porch railing.

I like your header photo.
