What's blooming on our first 'cold' day.

Good morning. It is our first cold morning of the season. It was 53 and felt like it was 46 when we got up around 5:45 and right now around 10:15 it is 56 and feels like it is 49 and really windy out. I am bummed because I don't get to play outside today having a ratchy throat and runny nose. I did go out to take some pictures though with a jacket and hat on. The sun is shining and it really is beautiful flannel shirt weather. DH is doing some patio work out back.

I've got garlic/herb bread making in the bread machine and plan to make a nice garlic/vegetable/smoked sausage soup later, heavy on the garlic which is a great natural antibiotic.

Have a lovely Sunday.

The first three pictures are of unknowns.

This is spiderwort, one of my favorites.

This next one is South African Foxglove.
This is grown from seeds from another FL gardener.
She just sent me some seeds for the lavender colored ones. ;-)

These are periwinkles. I also have pink ones.

Passion flower

Morning glories

The wonderful yellow color is fading out of this nice little rose called 'Golden Sun'.

This beauty is Don Juan.

These are clerodendrum, I call them bleeding hearts.

These next two pictures are of 4 o'clocks.

Beautiful. I love seeing pictures of your garden. I really love the colors in that yellow rose. I have no rose thumb at all.

Wow. You're having the same weather we are. What a change from last week, huh? Hope you feel better soon. My cold is nearly gone, but the cough lingers. Take care and drink some hot tea.

Beautiful flowers! I love the Foxglove, I haven't seen that type before. I just found my 'Don Juan' blooming today too!
Hope you feel better.

I just love the smell of home baked bread and soup on a cool day.

Your flowers are beautiful, as always.

Those colds are going on all over the U.S. If you don't get the cough, feel lucky. I think all the garlic food sounds great. Your photos are great. That is the second blog that I have seen today with Don Juan rose. Is yours also a climber. I like that rose a lot.

What a lovely set of blooms! That foxglove is unique. I don't think I've seen a white one like that. It's pretty! Seeing your passion vine reminds me I forgot to take some cuttings. I'm surprised it survived the cold weather. Now, when I say cold, I'm talking about the 20s, not the 40s. LOL

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Hugs, Sue

I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I do hope you get better soon. How wonderful to have a cool day. I know how excited I would get on a cool day when I lived in those summer climes. All of your flowers are so pretty but I am madly in love with that yellow and white rose.

We finally had some cooler weather, too, and the garden seems to have perked up. My four o'clocks are looking a lot better now that we have had so much rain, but it won't be long before they die back until next year.

Thank you all for visiting and leaving your kind comments.

Marti ~ That little yellow rose usually is a vibrant color, but it's little life was on the wane so the color was fading. I thought it was interesting looking.

Tom ~ Your cool weather is still around ours is warming back up. It is 77 right now and supposed to reach 85 today and get even warmer the rest of the week. We did enjoy
the chilly, refreshing break. My cold is much better, thank you. Still a bit of congestion and cough, but I feel more like my normal self. Herbal hot tea was nice and soothing. Glad you are feeling better too.

Catherine ~ I hadn't seen that foxglove before either. I love it as it is cottagey looking for my gardens and I can't grow the real foxgloves. I've still got to plant the lavender colored ones yet and will take pictures when they bloom. I bet you were thrilled to see your Don Juan. Such a beautiful, wonderfully scented rose.

azplantlady ~ Thank you.

L.D. ~ I don't know if my Don Juan is a climber or not. Some of the canes do get long and I tie them up, but that's basically because I'm a lazy pruner.

Sue ~ Your weather sounds really cold. Hope you were able to take some cuttings of your passion vine. I'm feeling much better, thank you.

LeSan ~ The chilly days were wonderful while they lasted. I'm afraid we're in for more warm and humid weather though for the next couple of weeks. Dang. That yellow/white rose would be a unique one to have if it grew like that.

Kanak ~ Thank you. I am feeling better.

Mary Delle ~ Thanks.

Jan ~ Things were looking much better down here a couple of weeks ago, but with little to no rain again, the grass has turned to straw and things that don't get watered regularly, like the 4 o'clocks are falling over. I need to go out to collect seeds before they are all over the place.

Muhammed ~ Yes, the 4 o'clocks are fragrant. I love them.

The flower in the third picture is an Asystasia, probably Asystasia gangetica. Comes in other colors too. There's even a variegated one.
